Sealant for wire penetrations December 27, 2007, 01:49:59 pm Yahoo Message Number: 87524I am in the process of installing solar panels and using the fridge vent to run the wires. I have drilled through the fridge compartment to get access to the battery. Does anyone know what the factory uses as a sealant for the wire penetrations in the fridge compartment? It's pretty good stuff. Alternately, is there a preferred sealant that is readily available?

I've never seen a motorhome that's so well sealed! Home Depot sells PL polyurethane caulk, around $3 to 4 or so - - you'll need a caulk gun if you don't have one - - also about $3. Don't get the stuff on your hands! I'll turn dark and has to wear off, so it's good to use disposable gloves when using polyurethane caulk.bumper

I called the factory, and ordered a couple of tubes of whatever it is that they use just in case.By coincidence, just this week, I removed a bunch around the escape hatch so I could remove/replace it. I can say with certainty that whatever they used in 1984 was indeed good stuff!
