Campgrounds near Montclair?

Looking for a decent campground near Montclair/Lazy Daze.
Anyone personally familiar with these?
Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park: (My first choice based on their web site)
 http://parks.co.la.ca.us/frank_rpark.html

Pomona/Fairplex  KOA

East Shore RV Park:

Open to other ideas? Never been to Montclair.
Need a fairly convenient place to stay for a few days.

Thank you:

Ed

Ed, we stayed at the KOA last March.  It is OK and has nice facilities but the spaces are very close together.  However, it's quite near the LD factory which is why we used it.  Under normal traveling circumstances I would not stay in one of these older sardine can-type RV parks.

Ed, if you go to the Files area of this group's website and open the Buying & Selling folder, you'll find a document called LAZY DAZE FACTORY RESOURCES.rtf that has lists of places to stay, eat, shop, etc. in the vicinity of the Lazy Daze factory.

Hello Ed:

We have stayed at both -- once at the KOA & several times at East Shore, last in Jan 07. As Chris has noted, the KOA sites are close together.

East Shore has areas with much more space between sites than at the KOA. East Shore is located atop & along the hills east of the lake at the Bonelli Regional Park. Parts of it overlook the lake of the park (& part overlooks a local airport next to the Fairplex fairgrounds).
If you decide on East Shore, I suggest you check out the map of their sites online and talk to staff there to pick an area in line with your preferences, e.g., close to or away from overlooking the lake or airport, or other desires, etc.
While others on this forum have had negatives to say, we have had very good experiences at East Shore. (Also, you may wish to verify, but I believe that the East Shore RV Park *is* the RV portion of the Bonelli Regional Park.)
The distance to the Lazy Daze factory is about the same from either park.

Regards,

You might check out message 70973 which relates my experience with the Ontario/Fernwood mobilehome park.  Very close to the factory, very "homey" and located near Costco and it's cheap fuel and goodies.
Also a "gated" facility.
My trip to Montclair was accidentally timed where everything near the fairgrounds was full due to fair activity so we chose Fernwood.  Glad we did. Not necessary to use the freeway system at all while going to and fro from the Mothership, but it is available.  I suspect those 4 miles take longer than surface streets during rush hours.

Eastshore is primarily a residential park, and it's a bit pricey; be sure to ask for a "discount" if you belong to GS, AAA, AARP, or are military. (I've heard some complaints about their restrooms not being up to snuff, but I have no way to know if this is legitimate since I never use an RV park's restrooms.)  Eastshore works for a "factory visit" stay; this would be my choice over the KOA.

WOW, I have never heard of a factory that has no facilities for overnighters when work, especially warrantee work, is being done. What's up with that!! Bonehead

What's up with that!! --- Well, Bonehead, the factory has very little parking space for anybody whatever their purpose for being there. And, the factory is located in a rather "dicey" area; it's not a place that most folks would choose to overnight anyway.

ROTFLMAO!  I can definitely assume by that remark that you don't know much about Lazy Daze OR visited their facilities.  They spend their money building high quality rigs at the lowest possible price.  I never heard of a factory that didn't give new owners a free "logo" ballcap either, but if you want one they're only $15, shipping not included. (g)
OTOH, I've driven in with paint and finish problems and left 2 hours later with everything perfect.  They're also generous with their time and experience as well.

WOW! It's obvious you've never been there to see the situation. Lazy Daze has been there since 1956 (?) when it was still part of Pomona.
That is pre-Freeway. I used to travel through there from 29 Palms on my way to L.A. for booze-it-up weekends (former Jarhead, don't you know). Back in those days Mission Blvd was the main drag. Had a long conversation with Ed about what the area was like back then. Mans got a memory that won't quit.

So, starting out in an industrial area, over time they just got swallowed up and now are surrounded and cannot expand. Don't know that they would want to either. In a lot of ways they are caught in a time-warp.

A phone call confirmed you are correct. The Park website is deceptive.
It clearly implies the RV park is a *public* park, not a private one.
I think I'll pass, but the park does look like a nice place for a day trip.
