Where is it leaking?  If it's on the outside it's probably the safety release valve.  Sometimes you can reseat them by just opening the lever a couple of times.  Don't do this with hot water in the tank or you could scald yourself!
If it's in the plumbing fittings on the backside, they will have to be tightened and/or replaced.  If it's the tank itself that is leaking you will need a new water heater.

Where is it leaking from? If it is the pressure valve, it is common and easily fixed. There is supposed to be a small air pocket in the heater, to give some room for the water to expand when heating. But the air  sometimes bleeds out. When it does, the pressure valve will leak when the water temp goes up. To remedy this, you need to introduce some air into the heater. Turn the water off to the system (turn pump off or turn off outside water coming in).
Drain some water out of the plug on the heater (be sure to open a faucet or the pressure valve to let air in). This will trap some air into the heater and the pressure valve should not leak.
One thing I do when first hooking up to outside water, is to make sure the hose is empty (which it usually is), which will force air into the system. After turning the outside water on, let the air out of the system by turning on a HOT water faucet first. This sends the air into the heater and some will replenish the air pocket. This is easier than removing the drain plug.
This may be covered in the LD Manual and or the Water heater manual.

Last year I also had a leak from the hot water heater but it turned out to be the plastic plug.  I retaped the threads reinstalled and the problem went away
