I'm not sure if this is a hot deal or not, but I got an email from Costco today, they have the Garmin Nuvi 650 for $300 +tax and shipping.

I believe this is a pretty good deal so I thought I'd pass it on to the group.

Wow, if it's really a 650 then that's a great deal.  I just went to costco and only saw the 250w for $300.

I'm pretty sure I received this same email, but now I can't find it.
I checked my email trash & even searched my Yahoo email server where things don't get deleted for a month.  Maybe this was such a good deal that Costco removed it?  According to the website it won't be available until after Nov. 18th....no price listed.

I did some Googling ŒNuvi Costco¹ and read that Costco had a limited number of them and sold out promptly.

Garmin Nuvi 650 $300 at Costco & Custom POIs

I posted a few days ago about Costco offering the Garmin Nuvi 650 for $300, but they sold out almost immediately.

I did get one and this is one slick unit, I'm very pleased.

Does anyone here do custom POIs?  These are downloadable Points of Interest and I've been having a great time playing with this.
Unfortunately my Garmin 2610 won't accept custom POIs (at least as far as I can find in the documentation) so we'll probably use the 2610 in Cholula Red and the Nuvi in the Tracker.
So regarding these POIs, they're files you can download adding points to your GPS.  So far, I've added all the Passport America Parks, all the Corps of Engineers Parks, a list of CAT scales so we can get the rig weighed regularly), a list of GQs top 20 Hamburgers (there's one really close!), a set of Offbeat Tourist Attractions, a list of Dump Stations, a list of Railway Museums and a list of all the Zoos in the US. Pretty Cool huh?
So in poking around online, it seems that Costco will have these back in stock at the same price on Nov 18, so if you're interested, I can vouch for this unit.

Kate, I'm curious how you got the POIs into your MAC.  Did Garmin, (and the Nuvi), finally develop compatible software?  (I had to use my sister's PC to download the upgrades into my 2720).

Thanks!

That's another big plus, the 650 is Mac Compatible, at least for POIs, charging and upgrading.  For the Maps, I think you have to convert them on a PC but there is now a Mac Map Loader.

I'm quite pleased.

I just installed a copy of Windows XP on my Mac Book Pro. Runs in a window under VMWare Fusion (or Apple's Boot Camp).  That handled the couple of remaining incompatibilites I had left.

This is available again. Shipping is $8.  This is currently a good deal, but prices on GPS devices have been dropping faster than California real estate.  Keep in mind that Black Friday is next week.

The TomTom ONE 3rd Edition Portable GPS Vehicle Navigator that someone mentioned earlier at half the price of the Nuvi 650 is no longer available at that price...at least not that I can find.

Tis the season for deals on electronic devices. Why? New products will be on the shelves by March.
It happens every year.
That said, I would think it highly doubtful that any new features on next years GPS will be something that you will wish you had waited for.

Still navigating with a five year old Garmin Quest.
