Help finding boondocking sites, Pacific Northwest May 16, 2006, 12:09:06 pm Yahoo Message Number: 66786Hi all, First, thanks to those who responded to my questions about a LD I was considering buying. I did it, and I'm now the happy owner of a 1995 22' that's been exceptionally well cared for and I'm really happy with. My question now: Do you know of resources for finding good boondocking sites, mostly in the forests, etc.? Do good maps of national forest areas, for instance, show roads near creeks or rivers that a guy might explore for dry camping in a small RV? Or maybe there are books on the subject. If you have any experience and can offer suggestions or ideas I'd appreciate it. Again, thanks for help I've gotten from you folks. Your comments helped give me a secure feeling in my recent purchase.~ Chuck in Bellevue (near Seattle), Washington

The resource we use most is "Don Wright's Guide to Free Campgrounds." Don lists campgrounds up to $12...some are really out in the boonies, so read the directions carefully before deciding to go to a particular campground. For Forest Service campgrounds, we use Coleman's "National Forest Campground & Recreation Directory," and when we're in the Midwest, we use S.L. Hinkle's "Camping with the Corps of Engineers" (there aren't as many COE campgrounds in the west, unfortunately). All these books can be purchased at www.rvbookstore.com or places like Amazon.com.Linda Hylton2004 Red 23.5' TK http://map.datastormusers.com/user1.cfm?user=1167 http://earl-linda.blogspot.com/
