Exercising LD Systems
Yahoo Message Number: 64841
Hi All,
I just sent the following message to the Good Sam Highways magazine:
Lazy Daze, Inc. issues a 90+ page owner's manual with each RV it sells that is born of experience and deserves careful attention. One item that slipped by me was the caution, with respect to the roof-top air conditioner, that the owner should "run the air conditioner occasionally, even if not needed, so that it does not freeze up".
I had used the rooftop A/C unit on my 2004 Lazy Daze class C for about 30 minutes in the first year and a half and, sure enough, when I tried to start it recently on a camping trip in mid-Florida the blower was frozen. I called a few RV repair shops and was told a minimum of two weeks before they could see me. Fortunately, a call to Trade Winds RV of Ocala, FL produced a, "we can see you tomorrow at 10AM" response.
Tim, their service person, installed a new blower and in three hours I was on my way with a fully-functional air conditioner at absolutely no cost to me as the Dometic unit has a three-year warranty.
Thank you Trade Winds RV for excellent service and thank you, Dometic, for a good warranty.

I'm sure you all know this, especially with the generator, but it is a very good idea to exercise all LD systems regularly to keep them working properly.
