Get Togethers in the Southwest

Well, I tried posting this earlier today but it seems to be lost in cyberspace so here it is againa (and I apologize if it's a duplicate)
 With very little fanfare (or advance notice) this is just to let everyone here know that we (Kate and Terry) will be visiting Rockhound State Park in New Mexico for a week or two starting sometime next week (probably April 4 or so).  Andy and Getie will be joining us, and anyone who wishes (first time owners, second time owners, SOB owners, used to be owners, want to be owners, WHOEVER) is invited to stop in and say Howdy and stay if you like

OK, where is Rockhound SP and how far off the I-10 is it?  On Tuesday, Mimi and I are heading for the border from the Yucatan in Mexico.  We are kind of in a hurry as we want to be in LA for my son's birthday on April 16th.
Thus, we are heading up the Gulf coast and will cross into the US somewhere in TX, head for I-10 and start west. We'll probably drive late and sleep short while crossing west Texas - not our favorite area - so a short detour to spend a day or so with you guys in NM would be a joy.   Plus.... we LOVE rocks!  Giving up our rock collections to go fulltime was a heartbreaker, we still talk about them.  I hope this place is not too far north.

I just looked up Rockhound SP, it's right off the I-10 near Deming.  We'll stop by and see you guys on our way to LA.  We should be there between the 8th (unlikely) and the 11th or so.    Yippee!

It's right outside of Demming, and you can take home 15 pounds of rocks for your personal collection!  Crystals, geodes, agates, chalcony (Sp?  it's pronounced cal-sid-nee).

Just a note to let everyone know that we have arrived at Rockhound State Park in NM and it is GORGEOUS here.  We're up against the hills, incredible views and at night we get to see the lights of Demming.  It seems there's a lot to do around here so we're settled in for at least 10 days or so.

I don't know if we'll be able to stop now.  We are still in Akumal, everything takes longer in Mexico especially since we're on mexican time ourselves.  We are hoping to leave tomorrow but that only gives us one week to get to LA.  That's driving almost non stop.  I'm working on a change in plans for our arrival but don't know yet.  If we can postpone my son's birthday (I couldn't do that 38 years ago but perhaps now!) we'll have few extra days to get there.  So, we may just honk as we drive by in the middle of the night.
