Vent hoods and my Bigfoot
Yahoo Message Number: 64525
I did not realize that there was such variety with the venthoods that sit over our stoves!  From Jonna's first reply I thought she was going up on the roof to look for it!!!  I have model BM made by the Ventline company.
I emailed them today and await a reply.  If anything interesting is provided I will report it.  My Bigfoot does not have a permanent cover on the sidewall.  There is a form fitting flush door and that door opens and closes with the movement of an interior lever.  The lever does not fit well into any of the 3 indent positions that exist on the front face of the hood (erroneous tank gauges and the generator amp hour meter reside on that face too).  I guess this differs from the LD's.
Andy asked why I will try to sell my Bigfoot when we return to CA in November.  I have been to the LD factory about 4 times now and wanted the LD 26.5RQ last year.  However, it took me longer to sell my diesel pusher then I had hoped and in Feb 2005 I was not going to wait 6 months for LD to build a unit.  I was also not successful in finding a used unit.  So, in March, having found a Bigfoot that fit my needs I grabbed it.  We had a great 6 month trip in it crossing the country and visiting Newfoundland for the first time.  LD is what I have always wanted though and following this group has been interesting and rewarding.  So if someone is ready to purchase the Bigfoot come November I will join the ranks of LD owners.
The Bigfoot has its attributes (very good insulation, vg storage, good payload) but I doubt if it is as well built as the LD.
The house we seasonally live in is located in Mountain Center, CA up rte 74, The Palms to Pines highway, 12 miles above Palm Desert.  I just mention this to let people know that there is a simple Forest Service campground situated close by and called Pinyon Pines.  No hookups and while the sites look fine the dirt road circumnavigating the campground is kind of tipsy turvy.  It does get cool up here (4200ft) and we had a snowstorm on Mar 11 but if it is roasting down in the Coachella Valley do visit.  If you let me know you are present I would like to meet you! Sorry, but no parking is allowed at my house due to Assn rules and I store my Bigfoot down in Desert Hot Springs.
Safe and enjoyable travels, Mike Lewis
