Water spots? October 05, 2005, 10:09:36 pm Yahoo Message Number: 58718We had some really bad water spots on our house windows and I bought some stuff "creme cleanser" from Watkins. They're the door to door folks. At any rate, they told me to wet the windows down with a hose to remove the dirt. Then take the creme cleanser and rub with a wash cloth or microfiber is even better and let stand while you do the next window and then the next. Take the sprayer and reactivate the probably dried creme cleanser on the window and wash. It removed some pretty bad water spots off of our nook windows and didn't harm the plaster or the wood sills. I might be more careful with the paint on the LD but it worked great. Lisa

I don't imagine, either, that there are any door-to-door Watkins sales people in Quartzsite!Linda Hylton 2004 Red 23.5' TK From Mountain View RV Park Susanville, CA See where we are: http://map.datastormusers.com/user2.cfm?user=1167 Sent via the WebMail system at mail.escapees.com

It didn't occur to me to look on the web since Lisa said they were door-to-door. Who knew they also sold online! They do have a "Creme Cleaner" that may be what Lisa was talking about. But the description says it's a mild abrasive, so I don't think I'd want to use that on the paint. However, they also have a Mineral Deposit Remover that might work. Think I'll order some when we get back to Q.Linda Hylton 2004 Red 23.5' TK From Mountain View RV Park Susanville, CA See where we are: http://map.datastormusers.com/user2.cfm?user=1167 Sent via the WebMail system at mail.escapees.com

If you wiped the water spots with vinegar and then rinsed them off within a few minutes, there may not have been enough time for it to work. I'd suggest saturating a small gauze or paper towel pad with vinegar and taping it in place over the spots for a couple of hours. (Use masking tape so there'll be no residue.) Note: I have NOT tried this myself on a vehicle finish, although I've often used vinegar to remove mineral buildup in other applications. I don't know of any reason why it would damage automotive paint, but if I were you I'd test it first on an inconspicuous area just to be safe.Andy

I'll try your hint before purchasing anything else, although probably not until we return to Q.Linda Hylton 2004 Red 23.5' TK From Mountain View RV Park Susanville, CA See where we are: http://map.datastormusers.com/user2.cfm?user=1167 Sent via the WebMail system at mail.escapees.com

I cannot recommend any one specifically but I have used various "Cleaners" in varying degrees of abrasive content over the years. I'm currently using their "Cleaner Wax" and their "NXT Tech Wax", both of which leave a high polish. The Tech Wax will completely remove water spots which are left behind if you do not chamoix the surface dry. You could probably find a suitable product on their web site at:Steve S. Lazy Bones

Our water spots are a lot more than the kind you get when you don't chamois the surface dry after washing...it comes from water dripping at the city water hookup, and is quite thick.Linda Hylton 2004 Red 23.5' TK From Mountain View RV Park Susanville, CA See where we are: http://map.datastormusers.com/user2.cfm?user=1167 Sent via the WebMail system at mail.escapees.com
