Oil level on generator

Hello,
 I've discovered that the 4kw Onan generator lacks sufficient oil in my 94 26.5 RB LD.  I also see that the generator slants forward, which might affect the oil level.
 Should the generator oil level read low?  Or should I put some oil in it right now?

Bruce, I'm not all that familiar with your 1994 model. funroads dot com has an Onan message board that is very helpful. You will need your model number and serial number.
 On mine, the oil level should be between the two marks on the dip stick.
