Earl-which BLM campground in No CA? January 13, 2005, 09:19:24 pm Yahoo Message Number: 49318QuoteWhere in Northern California is this small BLM campground? I gather you'll be there sometime in the Fall. We're always looking for a place to go-especially in the Fall. Mary in foggy No CA :>( Hi, Mary! We'll be camp hosting at the Pit River Campground. It's on SR-299 between Redding and Alturas...east of the junction of SR-299 and SR-89 and about 4 or 5 miles southwest of Fall River Mills. We stopped at this campground in the fall on our way back to Quartzsite and really liked it and the area (it's right on the Pitt River which is supposed to have excellent fishing and there's an 18-hole championship golf course in Fall River Mills). They were in the process of redoing it -- putting in a couple of more sites (for a total of 10), leveling the sites and putting in new gravel, fire pits, and tables. There was a BLM employee there who we were able to talk to, and he told us they were putting in a site for a camp host. So, when we got back to Q, I did some research, found out who to contact at the Alturas BLM office, and told them we were interested in the job. We'll be there from August 1 through October 31. If you're in the area, stop by and say "hi!"Linda & Earl 2004 23.5' Red TK From Quartzsite, AZ
