Because the bottom of the table was unfinished cheap wood, battered and stained, it looked pretty ugly when flipped up (a modification I made awhile back). So I covered it with the same two-layer quilted muslin that had used in my overcab bedroom renovation, as described here:http://www.andybaird.com/travels/gertie/bedroom.htm>The muslin was purchased from the "Warm Company" website:http://www.warmcompany.com/qmpage.html> Now, as I noted on my site, this quilted muslin is very thin (don't let the word "quilt" mislead you) and at $12.99 a yard, seems rather pricey to me. But its wavy pattern is attractive and I had plenty left over from the bedroom project, so it was a natural choice. I cut two pieces to size, hemmed the edges, and then stapled them to the underside of the table, pulling the fabric taut with canvas-stretching pliers to ensure that it would not droop later on. I also refinished all the under-table hardware, which was by far the most tedious part of this project. I wirebrushed every piece (the slides, the three mating clamps, and the folding leg) and then sprayed on multiple coats of ivory colored Rust-Oleum. Unfortunately, the picture on my site was taken before I did this part of the job...so you can see how ugly the old rusty hardware looked before, but not how nice it looks now! ;-)Andy Baird

I have used it to line the back of our vent covers and the overhead bunk window covers. It is a high-performance insulation and it does a great job of blocking the cold of the winter and, just as importantly, the heat in the summer. It is also light proof, nice for blocking the early morning light from entering through the bunk windows. One could make a very effective cab separator with this material. Covers for the larger windows are another possibility. The Warm Company's website does not have a photo of the fabric but there is a lot of good information at the following link. Thanks!Andy Baird I used that material to "slipcover" an ice chest, with a tapestry fabric as the outside material, during my tent camping days. It worked as advertized to insulate, and was comfy to sit on, as well.Sharon N.
