OK Group I need your help nameing our Red 26-RK, It'll be in Texas for the next few years if not forever. Bumper had a good idea for my 10-gallon hat, a clear celluloid hat box mounted on the ladder which had no bearing on a name so everyone put your heads together.

Robert, after talking with my wife we have decided not to name our new 30TB which will be delivered on Groundhog Day, "Punxsetawney Phil" so that name is available if you would like it.

Nate, if you are a fan of the movie Groundhog Day with Bill Murray, you could name your LD "Deja Vu."  Otherwise, since it's being delivered on groundhog day, how about "Shadow?"

Okay, as the owner of Ruby the red 04 RK, I feel somewhat qualified to help here. I like to tie in the name and/or color so try:

Dazed and Lazy Red Barron Miss Daisy {highly used already} Mao Tse Tung {as in Red China - HA!} Le Maison Rouge {red house en francais} Big Red

Good luck!!

But in Texas, that would be "casa roja" - red house. :)

I was thinking that too, but my Spanish is a little rusty and I didn't want to get it wrong.  Actually, there are really a lot of decendents of German immigrants too, so "Das kleine rote Haus" (the little red house) would be appropriate too.

I have to admit that when I thought of a red LD in Texas, I, like others, thought of chili peppers too.

R&R

Not too far over the Louisiana line, just outside the town of New Iberia, lies Avery Island. The folks there are really into things that are 'RED'. They actually run around the fields carrying "La Petite Baton Rouge" (a little red stick) with which they check the ripeness of their crops. So, why not "Tabasco" for your Lazy Daze?

Howdy (with a Texas accent) Robert and Roberta,
Is there a prize for coming up with the winning name? Aw shoot, I'll put my entry in anyway. You're getting some good names and some complicated names. IMO, when your naming something like this, it ought to be simple, preferable one word, and roll off the tongue easily. Some of those three word names folks are submitting are like those fancy names people hang on show dogs; think they use some 3 or 4 French word sounding names when when calling ol' Spot for dinner? Heck no!

Put me down for "Ranger". Its simple, it relates to Texas, ( The Texas Rangers, not the baseball team) and it describes your RV activity, ranging over the country. Or if you wanna use Red Ranger, that's OK too. I'll take my prize either way!

And the winner is?

Robert, maybe I'm being presumptious, but since I don't eat Mexican food, could you send me a gift certificate for KFC or Wendys? I know you are going to be happy calling your rig "Ranger"!

As for the name by the door, you can order a new nameplate from LD.
While you have them on the phone, put in your 2cents about the new upholstery.

Call them and put in your two cents' worth about the upholstery...but think about a simpler solution for the nameplate. Unscrew it and take it to your local trophy/engraving shop and ask to have one made in the appropriate size, with proper holes and screws for mounting, and with your exact name or sentiment engraved on it.
As I understand it from recently past discussion, their stock nameplates all start out with "built to order for..." or a similar line, so you almost HAVE to choose your name to complete the phrase. And they limit the number of letters, which can be another problem.
If you don't want your own name right by the front door (for safety or privacy concerns), and you can't think of a fun phrase that contains no more than, say, 19 letters and spaces and fits in with "built to order for...", your local shop can help.

Well it finally happened, cabin fever even though it is a bright, almost hurts your eyes beautiful clear with big fluffy white clouds day here in Montclair. So with all this time on my hands here is what I came up with for names for the contest. Ok here goes, back in the day we had a governor named Jerry Brown, he dated Linda Ronstadt his nick name was "Moonbeam"  thus for a brown LD, Moonbeam.  "Tillie", would be for the teal color, then how about "Crystal" for the blue LD. If you have ever seen the crystal blue colors of the glaciers in Alaska you know what I'm talking about.  For the silver LD, that would be "The Lone Ranger" or "Tonto", or "Scout" Scout was Tonto's horse and then of course we can't forget "Kemo Sabe".  The possibilities are endless, somebody stop me!  .
I better get outside and get some fresh air.

Before naming your LD "tonto", you should know that it means "stupid" in spanish.  Also, there are some less than flattering guesses as to the intended meaning of "kemosabe".
Our teal RB is named 'Tortuga', turtle in spanish, and our green jeep is named 'Sapo' which is toad in spanish.
I think one of the best LD names is Dave and Carmen's 'Flojita' which means little lazy girl in spanish.

That said, I too like 'Ranger' for the Texas LD.
