LD for sale - new expanded listings December 18, 2004, 10:49:00 am Yahoo Message Number: 48011Used Lazy Daze RVs for sale 1988 to 2004 Models advertised recentlyNew list formatIn recent discussions, owners of older LD models have reported that good value can be found in a coach that's around 15 years old. A 15 year old vehicle continues to be reliable, and parts are readily available when repairs are needed. This recommendation has led me to expand my list of LDs currently available for sale to include 1988-1991 26ft LDs.1988 was the first year that LD offered the 26ft models. They were built on a Ford E-350 van chassis with GVWR of 11,500 lbs. In 1988, the E-350 was equipped with the 460 V8 engine with throttle body fuel injection, plus a transmission with overdrive.LD adopted the E-450 chassis with V10 engine for the 26ft models in late 1996. The factory continued to use the E-350 chassis with 460 V8 for the 23ft models until 2003.LD adopted the current paint scheme in 1990, including the black panels that replaced the front window on the cab-over. Ford changed the exterior styling of the cab to a rounded, streamlined appearance in 1992. This design is still used today. As a result, a shiny 1992 coach looks very similar to a new 2005!Including the 1988 to 1991 26ft models adds eight new coaches to my list this week, with prices ranging from $13,000 to $20,300.Please let me know if you find that a coach listed below has been sold. After reading Oryoki's list of rigs for sale, and her detailed information about LD changes, isn't it time for a book about LD's? Can you imagine an illustrated book featuring photos with details about the changes made each year? And wouldn't the big LD gathering in Cheyenne be a great place to do the research for this book? I bet nearly every year of production will be represented. What about it Oryoki? And Henry could do a painting for the cover!Steve K. (I'm not volunteering anything other than the idea !)

Given the, um, "quaint" old-fashioned attitude the owners seem to display about many modern conveniences, change suggestions, etc., I was happily surprised to discover that they have a website at all! But of course you are right. If you visit any other RV website, they have many (if not all) these items listed. This inconvenience is probably overshadowed by what I hear is extremely helpful customer service, telephone and email availability, and so on. Not too many factories are willing to extend this kind of personal service to buyers. They have dealers, and THEY are supposed to do all that.Sonsie
Re: LD book Reply #13 – December 19, 2004, 05:36:49 pm Yahoo Message Number: 48056I agree that Lazy Daze needs to update their web site! They don't even have a single photo of the 23-1/2 (except one inside view) so you can see the size of it. This group has been a wonderful resource of information though. Maybe Lazy Daze just needs some encouragement to do the update to the site.Livia

How about your being the liaison with the Mothership to gather all the archival documents and then, working with a committee at the Golden Caravan, you all can put the book together.Chris Horst Chris, thanks for the show of enthusiasm for my idea! I don't know how some folks took this germ of an idea for a book about the changes in Lazy Daze's over the years, and changed that concept into making it sound we would be paying for information Lazy Daze should be putting in their brochure. (But yeah, I think the information from Ld could be a lot better too!) Oh well....I do think an illustrated history of Lazy Daze would be an interesting book, and perhaps an valuable resource for those searching for a used Lazy Daze. But, as you may have noticed, I wanted my contribution to be one of coming up with the idea, not of actually doing any WORK. Besides, if I were to attend the Golden Caravan, it looks like I may be behind the "yellow caution tape"!And as far as working with a committee, heck, even one of my grade school teachers noted on one my earliest report cards "Steve does not work well with others"! Yikes! Some things never change!Steve K. (I nominate Chris to start the research at the factory; I hear they liked him showing up every two months for about 4 years before he ordered)

Yes, the conversation did drift away from the original topic. I'd love to see a book about the history of Lazy Daze, although I suspect the market for such a book is small. But today's print-on-demand services make it possible to serve even small markets, so it could still be a viable idea. If someone ever decides to write such a book, I suggest publishing through BookLocker (http://www.booklocker.com>). You write it and lay it out; then send a PDF file to them. They do the rest: sell it online as a downloadable e-book, and also as a paper book. Credit card transactions, printing, binding and shipping are all taken care of by BookLocker. And royalties to the author are far higher than what the traditional publishing industry pays (as I can attest!). BookLocker is not alone in offering print-on-demand services, but when I was researching these companies, they stood out because of their professionalism, their honesty and straightforwardness, and the fact that they make their money *selling books*. Many small publishing companies of this type only want to sell you their services. Once they have your money, you're on your own. But BookLocker makes money when you sell books, so they go to great lengths to make sure you succeed.Oh, and they are serious RVers. :-) Next time I write a book, I'll most likely publish it through BookLocker.Andy Baird
