Rear Storage "nut"
Yahoo Message Number: 47880
LD uses a 5/8" cap nut to secure the rear "continental cover" on the MB - - probably on other models too. This may be okay for covering a spare tire, but if you want to use this space for light, bulky storage (extra sewer hose etc), then a more conventient fastener is needed. I just posted a pic to the "Yonder" album showing one approach. I made a finger nut on the lathe out of black Delrin plastic and knurled the handle part for better grip. Such finger nuts are commercially available, though perhaps not common. Stud size is 3/8" x 16 pitch.

all the best,
