We picked up our tan 26.5 MB LD (#7450) from the factory on Friday. Flew down from the Bay Area to Ontario airport in the morning, called LD and were picked up by Todd (who also does all their purchasing) in about 20 minutes. We were a couple hours early for our 12:30 appt, so we walked down the street for some Mexican fast food, then went back to LD, looked over the various accessories we wanted, asking Nancy questions about what we really needed. Ended up buying quite a lot including comforters all around, the 7 steel valve stems, and four extenders with attachment kit and instructions, windshield boot (fits great), new sewer tank high pressure flexible clean up wand that does work with the MB, plastic leveling blocks (work great), etc. Then we strolled around the models on display, checking out the details with a fresh eye having read the manual a couple times now, talked with Ed Newton'

Then we got to look at our new LD; really pretty inside, they did an excellent job. Juan did the checkout with us: pretty much a non-stop tour thru all the features of the RV, until about 3 p.m. Lots to learn, no real surprises; it does come with a Ford road-side assistance plan for the first 3 years (covers flat tires, too :-) Then about 10 minutes for the paperwork, loaded up the new accessories and our couple travel bags, and headed out. Got some gas up the street, as well as propane, and headed up to camp on the coast for the night by Ventura, becoming acquainted with our new friend.

Got home to the SF Bay Area on Saturday afternoon (keeping it under 60) and spent the rest of the weekend figuring it out, showing it off, and making it livable (buying more stuff still like a water filter, those Rubbermaid tubs, etc). Found out why you don't want to have the fantastic fan cover up while the automatic satellite dish is trying to figure out where the satellites are ;-) Still need to get the valve stems installed, finish flushing the fresh water system, weight it, etc. and more camping this weekend. Too bad I have to work during the week ' I can see why this is a good thing to do after you retire ;-)

Congratulations Larry! "picked up our tan 26.5 MB LD (#7450) from the factory on Friday".

A

question I've been wondering about: When you get your new truck, is there any propane in the tank? Any water?

Granted that stuff costs money, and LD shouldn't have to provide a buyer, but - unless there's propane in the tank - how does the buyer check out the furnace / refrig / water heater / stove?

Did you get full demo of all these accessories when you picked up?

We're looking forward to ours in a couple months.

They did a full demo of all the accessories: stove, oven, air conditioner, water heater, etc. For this they had an external propane tank attached - the on-board one comes with air (they use compressed air to check for leaks), so first stop is to get propane and more gas.

They had the water half full but suggested a full purge of the system - I'm not sure if this was because they didn't want to "guarantee" the water fresh or not; it was good enough to shower with, but we didn't try drinking it. Back home I started the suggested purge process with chorline (5% bleach), and then vinegar (using apple cider cause I'm allergic to the distilled stuff); a good funnel would help getting the diluted chlorine solution into the fresh water fill hole.

They also suggest rechecking the lug bolts on the wheels (liability issue), and front end check after the unit "settles": Juan claimed it may sink an inch or more as it settles in to the chassis.

Sounds like you are a real LAZY DAZER now! There is a Lazy Daze caravan club in your area called " NORTHERN EXPOSURES" I will send you the details when I get a phone number for you.
You are now ready for the time of your lives.
Have fun! JIM CARTER

During your checkout, Lazy Daze will disconnect the propane tank and use their portable tank to check out the appliances and teach you how they work.

I don't recall the water pump checkout, but you be sure to disinfect the tank before filling, in accordance with instructions in your owner's manual.

Happy Camping

Larry,

We saw you there picking up your new beauty!! As a matter of fact, I took a picture of your rig when it was outside because it is the same model we got (different color though) and I wanted a pic of the side that I couldn't get in the showroom.
Then when we were driving away, I saw you at the gas station and we were fantasizing about how excited you must be. I wondered if it was someone from this club.
I would have never guessed it was another LD'er from the Bay Area. Congratulations! You got a gorgeous new rig!

Thanks Jonna! We were excited, but also a bit worried about heading out into LA Friday evening traffic; as it turned out, the LD handled great, even in the occasional stop and go (though I would suggest arranging for a morning pickup because it will give you more time in the daylight to get things organized).

When we got to Ventura, it was dark; we found a line of RV's along highway 1, parked behind an older LD for the night, and it was very special. Brought back memories of 3 weeks we spent in New Zealand in 1987 in a rented RV (I think the oldest one in the country ;-). We had imagined buying an RV back in the States, and now here we were, quite a bit later (and in a much nicer rig :-)...

I know just about where you must have parked that first night, I"m originally from Santa Barbara and have driven by there many times. It's kind of neat that your new LD was behind an older one on the first night out of the factory.

I will try for a morning pickup although we don't expect to go that far with the new LD right away. We have friends in Palm Springs and will park in their driveway for a few days while we sort things out.

I tried to post some pictures from our visit (including one of your new LD) but they don't appear. Could the club's space be full?

Jonna,

We live in Tiburon, so we're practically neighbors! We pick up our new LD on April 27 (26.5 Mid Bath). Would be interested in trading tips on local storage and dump station options. As you may already know, Marin County doesn't offer many storage and dump locations for RVs. If you prefer, you can contact me at . When do you pick up your LD?

Hi neighbor! Tim told me there was someone from Tiburon picking their coach up soon. We ordered on Jan 20 with an estimated pickup of the first week in Sept.

I haven't thought too much about where to store it although I will have to find somewhere. I have a friend who stores her Bounder in Petaluma and we may check that out. I don't have room to get it off the street here. I'll let you know when I get the name of the place.

It's too early but I'm already getting very excited about this. Your trip to Alaska sounds wonderful. That is in our plans too but we haven't decided when.
