Hmmmm...good question! I'm not sure if the fender skirts are for looks or aerodynamics, or perhaps a combination of both. Lazy Daze started in 1956, so they may be nothing more than a style expression. This would be a good question for Steve at Lazy Daze.

The fender skirts on the newer Lazy Daze are hinged for easy access to the rear duallys. On my 1985 model, they are screwed on. Somewhat of a hassle if you need to change a tire, but how often does one need to do that? I suppose I could take them completely off but haven't found a reason to.

Lazy Daze prides themselves in that their Coaches are just alittle better then the rest of the pack. I believe this to be true in the area of gas milage as well. If you stand back and look at the Coach you will see several Aero advantages not present on other homes. All corners are beveled or rounded so that the air slips by with a minimun of drag. Fender skirts are part of that process. They eliminate right angles around the rear wheels that cause aero drag which robbs just a small amout of horsepower and gas milage.
