Are there any advantages or disadvantages to using a cover when storing a Lazy Daze? Seems I read somewhere that a cover can create some problems. We live near the ocean and don't want our LD to suffer from exposure to the marine environment. One of our neighbors had a LD and covered it regularly. Worked fine for them. Does the factory sell them? Also, any comments on ordering the outside shower as an option?

Thank you, Sandy

Sandy, I recommend you check out the following link for covers:

These are high quality covers. Cost is around $400.

I bought the SR2Z Ready-Fit cover with zipper door for my 22', but decided it's not really necessary in my area, and have never used it. It's for sale, BTW, so if interested drop me a line. It fits a 20' 1" to 24' RV.

Hi Sandy.

I purchased a cover for our MB back in the fall mainly to keep falling leaves and the sun from damaging the finish. I would recommend that you get one with a zipper door so that you can get in and out easily. It is a handful to put on or take off and not something you would want to do often. I used bungees to keep it nice and snug and so far it has survived the winter snows without tearing.

Sandy,

I really like the idea of an outside shower but also want the extra insulation for cold weather camping. LD doesn't recommend buying the outside shower option if cold weather camping is something you want to do. The pipes are not insulated and could (would) freeze. I'll probably opt for the extra insulation and use other means to wash off outside the rig (no big deal, really).

PS We haven't ordered yet, pending a trip to CA (this fall, maybe)

You guys are awesom. We've just decided that the outside shower would be a good thing for cleaning up MT Bikes in the boonies, so we've got another problem with using the rig for winter excursions.

Probably need to install an insulated shut-off for the shower.

Dang, there is so much at Lazy Daze that is NOT in their brochures.

thanks for the alert

I installed a cold water shower in my 83 FL LD. I cut into the water line just past the water pump. I ran a line into the storage box next to it. Just inside the box, I installed a brass quick disconnect and ball valve. A hose and a nozzle plug into the disconnect. I used one of those dish washing nozzles that are installed in kitchen sinks. If you are worried about freezing, unplug it and all the plumbing is OK. It works great for a quick rinse but be carefull with any exterior shower to conserve water. If I'm very dirty or sandy, I will just rinse my feet. I then go straight inside to the shower. I seem to use less water and get cleaner this way . This is a very popular device that can drain your tank quickly.
