RK Wanna Be July 01, 2003, 05:48:53 pm Yahoo Message Number: 24070OK, OK, you've convinced me...I wanna own an RK. Unfortunately, we can't find a pre-owned 1998 or later, and my husband won't buy me a new one. The other day he said he hopes that somebody who bought a 2003 model has decided they don't want it afterall, so we can get one with the wider body. He's obviously a dreamer. Sue in San Diego ...still a wannabe...

(I believe.) Tom. I'll tell my husband that it's a recent design. However, the wider chassis, according to the legendary Ed at the Mothership, was just this year in the 2003 model. It's 5 inches wider.Sue

They are wider this year as they are now on the E-450 chasis. All 26.5 models including the RK have been on the E-450 for 5 or 6 years now. All RKs have been built on the wider chasis. I'm not sure what year the RK first appeared. Tom.

I will send positive RK vibes your way. With all this talk of a LADEZE group, maybe when (not IF) you get your RK we should start a RK wierdo group! We can all get together and discuss the not so obvious to some people virtues of our rigs. This is all in jest of course, because every LD is perfect!Keep up the good hunt for your rig.Linda
RK Wanna Be Reply #5 – July 01, 2003, 07:24:24 pm Yahoo Message Number: 24076Sue,My 2001 RK is 99 inches wide. The 2003 is 104 inches wide? That would seem to come close or exceed permissible widths in several states.Ronald Chicago 2001 Red RK

I recall seeing criticisms at RV.org regarding the use of the E350 chassis for the smaller models. This change now should give the 23.5 models a higher rating.Ronald Chicago 2001 Red RK
Re: [Life With A Lazy Daze RV] Re: RK Wanna Be Reply #8 – July 02, 2003, 01:30:56 am Yahoo Message Number: 24089The more I read, the more the RK appeals to me. I have never seen one, but will make it a point to look. Odd, since we were such great fans of the LazyDaze. Our first was a 1977, 17 footer with a porta potty. But we sure had fun. Next was a luxurious 22 foot with rear bath and a holding tank! It never went to a park with hookups until we joined a club. Our most recent rig was a 2003 Monaco Cayman. My hubby really wanted a pusher, and I was thinking slide out for our year on the road. Sadly, that was not to be. I've managed to sell the Cayman with 500 miles, and a 2002 Jeep Sahara tow (with 1,600 miles) but I don't want to give up the life style completely. So, looking for a short, used LD, '92 - '94 with low mileage and low price. Think I'm dreaming?? Well, somebody got a nearly new Cayman and a nearly new Jeep at a bargain price. Hope I won't be buying a rig from someone who's loss is my gain. Gain, gain is much happier. I have one comment about fire extinguishers. Following our friends down the highway, we noticed smoke coming from their rig, a fifth wheel. When they pulled over it was on fire. I grabbed our extinguisher, and they grabbed theirs. The extinguishers came with our rigs, and had never been used. They were worthless. When it finally quit burning, the only thing recognizable were the trout that had been frozen. They lost their truck too. Scary! Another camping lady, that needs to learn to drive a motorhome. I can do it!Karen
