Researching for potential purchase
Yahoo Message Number: 24129
Good Morning.  I am in the market for a Class C motorhome and am researching several different brands, Lazy Daze is one of them, however since I am on the East Coast it has been difficult to find people who own them so I can  ask questions, and actually see and touch a Lazy Daze.  The Company referred me to this web site as a source of information from users.  I am looking for user experience with the different models, and, heaven forbid, anything I should look out for.  Any suggestions and advice would be appreciated.  One of the other brands I am looking for is Born Free.
My preference at this time is to look for a used one but I know they are few and far between, however any suggestions, and advice would be appreciated.

Thanks Lynn Engelman

Lynn,
We will be in the Northeast this summer for a few weeks this September and would love to come by with our LD.  We now have a 1990, but for two years had a 2001 30'.    Let us know where you are and we can make plans.  We will actually be walking 6 to 8 capitol cities during this time.  We belong to AVA (American Volkssport Assoc).  (ava.org)     So, let us hear from you.     Bill and Melissa in Bay Village, Ohio

I am in Northern Virginia, just South of D.C., and about 2 1/2 3 hours north of Richmond (depending on how fast you drive!  If you will be anywhere near Richmond, I could meet you halfway, likewise in Maryland-I am only a couple of hours from Annapolis MD.

If you get anywhere near my area, my phone is 703-913-1170, my other email is

Were there technical reasons, i.e. length that caused you to change from your 30 ft?  I am trying to figure out what length I would becomfortable with.

I go through Ohio quite a bit on my way to my folks near St. Louis, I am not familiar with Village Ohio, is it anywhere near I-70  (I lived in Dayton for 8 years.)

Thanks for the email!

"One of the other brands I am looking for is Born Free."
Lynn, we have in this group several former Born Free owners who've upgraded to Lazy Daze, and have explained the differences and compared the quality and value of these brands in some detail in their posts. If you search the Yahoo archives of this site using the phrase 'born free', you'll learn a lot.
It's not hard to find Lazy Daze owners whose previous coach was Some Other Brand, but you'd have slim pickings if you looked for the reverse. Once you have a Lazy Daze, the likelihood of switching to another brand is just about zero.
You didn't say whereabouts you're located, but as Dianne pointed out, a dozen or more LDs will be gathering at Glimmerglass State Park, NY on the first weekend of October, and you are certainly welcome to come and see the variety of LD vintages, sizes and floorplans that will be represented there.
