Hardwood Dash kits

Since the topic of the wood dash came up recently and I still hadn't gotten one for my LD I decided to check prices on them again. Some of the places still had them at the avg $260 and up price I had originally gotten on quality kits. Many of these dealers were selling the same kit made by the same mfg. Many of these "wood" dash kits are not real wood! They are synthetic or simulated wood kits. A few have real wood but the prices on those are in the $300 and up range. I did find a site that has 10pc kits for the Econoline dash with pieces for the door and console/engine cover at only $169. This company does have a real wood kit in light rosewood that looks from the picture to be a great color match for the 2001 and earlier LDs with the darker interior wood. They have other choices as well that look like they would go well that are synthetic wood look types. The real wood version in light rosewood costs an additional $20 so it's still cheaper than most places and right at the price LD charges now for their option. I don't know if the LD option is just a 2-piece kit covering the dash only or if they put the other door trim pieces on as well. I will mention that is a special. They have a link to specials and it shows they are discounting the dash kits $40 for a limited time and can change at any time. This company does have a 30- day money back guarantee for lowest price and highest quality. The S&H is $10 from them. For those interested here is their website:

I also found a place that has 1, 2, and 10 piece kits at a higher price and have real wood and simulated wood. Their prices were $195 for 10pc real wood, $175.50 for simulated wood 10pc, $168 for 1 or 2 piece real wood, and $151.20 for simulated. The 1 and 2 piece kits cover only the dash area, the part that is black. This company has less of a selection of materials but the prices are also good and not showing as special limited time prices. S&H is added when finalizing the order so I don't know their price. That site is:

Both sites have pictures of the dash kits in an E series van. They are also available for other vehicles. I believe the '97 to present dash is the same but you can find out on these sites.

Since I have a birthday coming up soon I'm going to put this on my wish list. If I'm really lucky my wife will get one for me!

Mike et al,
Has anyone had experience installing these kits?  If so, how hard is it for a non-mechanical person to do?  Would love to add the hardwood kit to my 97 LD, but don't know if it is a difficult job or not.

Kathi, Can you put contact paper on things and make it look half decent? If you can then the wood dash kits are even easier! They have a peel and stick back. First you clean the area they'll go with alcohol being careful not to get it on areas it won't cover. Both of the sites I listed have the installation instructions on the website so you can read them and see if you feel comfortable doing it. They are very easy to install! I'm sure most people can do it and it'll make a tremendous difference in the look of their vehicle.
Not to jump on Steve K's bandwagon here but... If anyone does decide to buy a kit at these better than typical prices I've located, if you would just send 10% of what I saved you on them I'd greatly appreciate it! That way if my wife doesn't get me one for my birthday next month I can buy one without getting the approval from my accounting department. If I collect more money than needed for the kit I guarantee I'd spend it on other improvements to my LD and recognize all those that contributed when I post them in the sister LD Enhancements group.
