Dash Cover for a Chevy

The current discussion reminded me that I would like to order a dash cover for our '96 30 IB. As it the Chevy I have no idea where to begin. Has anyone with a Chevy ordered one and if so "what" am I.

Thanks Sylvia H.

Try JC Whitney or do a Google search on dash covers. JC Whitney has a few types starting at $34.95 for carpet type without a logo or monogram. They have them from Accu-Form, CoverKing, and others. Accu- Form and CoverKing are both high quailty and the mmost popular brands.

Thanks Mike,

I realize that I didn't phrase my question properly. I can find companies for dash covers, actually looked at Whitney before, but when asked "model" I didn't know what to select. On the Whitney link you provided the first option defaults to Van Full Size, but the second option goes into more detail so again would I be the Large Van, Astro Van, truck etc? I have no clue there. Ideas?

Thanks Again Sylvia H.

I forgot to give you the link to the JC Whitney page. Here's the link to the page that has your choices.

Sylvia,

You want one for the Van (large).

You want to choose the full size van. Chevy has changed the name of their full size vans a few times. They were a Vandura at one time and now are calles an Express. The Astro is a mini van. In 1995-96 I believe it was called a Vandura but if that isn't a choice and you selected the correct year and the Express is a choice that should give the correct cover. You can always call JC Whitney or any other place that sells them and ask them and then order it the "old fashioned" way.

The Chevy chassis used for this model is NOT the same as all the others. It is, in fact, a modified version of the chassis used in class-A motorhomes, a version called the P-30. The cab on this is a special one just for that combo, with the tilt-forward front for access to the 454 cid engine, and I doubt any accessories for the G- 30 / G3500 Chevy cutaway van models will fit. Your best bet is to go to a local outfit that does these dash covers, and have them decide what will work.

I didn't realize that they put the 30' on a Chevy chasis in 1996.  How have the drive train and chasis held up?  Have you had any problems?  Do you know what the GVWR is for that chasis?  My son is considering a LD of about that age, and I was not aware that the Chevy chasis was an option on the 26.5 and 30'.  Are you satisfied with the service you have received from it?  Any additional information would be appreciated.

Thanks Allen

Allen,

Our chassis is a '95, but I guess for production reasons the coach is a '96. We are the 2nd owners, having purchased it last Sept from the original owners.

We have no complaints, everything is holding up very well. My husband has done all the driving & he says it drives like a dream.
We did a 10k + mile trip last year (Oct-Dec).

Off hand  I don't remember the GVWR..Can look it up & advise.
I do believe either 30'( Ford or Chevy) has a lesser gvwr and/or ccc than the 26 but we have not found it to be any problem.
We do not have a toad either.
When we started looking for a motorhome we knew we wanted a 30' with an island bed. Having "our own space" is nice. Many  times one us us wants to read or watch tv etc while the other turns in.

Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any additional questions.
Feel free to use my direct email at disccopy at cfl (dot) rr (dot) com if you like. Will be heading out soon for a short trip so might be longer in answering than usual.
