Wow! I feel so lucky! I got to spend half the day with Sarah Blackwood today. Yes gang, she has been right here in Nowheresville - oops, I meant Victorville!

Since the end of the school year is near, I let my 12 year old son play hookie for part of the school day, and we picked Sarah up at the Elks where she was plugged in. After she gave us a tour of her little Mz. Daizy, we went to lunch and yakked and yakked and yakked! We then went to the book store and looked at maps and yakked and yakked some more. (The cheesecake and carrot cake and Starbuck's coffee helped to set the mood.) We looked at one of the Benchmark state Atlases - compared it to the Delorme, and decided we liked the Banckmark much better. I will be getting the Calif. one as soon as I can get it ordered.

What fun! And what a sweet and genuine person Sarah is! She has such a kindhearted outlook on all of humanity (and four legged creatures as well).I do believe the three of us could have talked and exchanged ideas for days on end! We have some great new places we want to see, and web sites we want to check out thanks to Sarah's infinite knowledge ot the South/Southwest and all sorts of internet goodies.

Sarah told us her pickup date for her new Mz. Daizy is probably November. We sure hope she will grace our doorstep when she ventures out in her spiffy new rig.

Virtual smiles to you Sarah!

Linda

Gee whiz. What flattering things you said I wish my mom was here to read this terrific post. Now my next question is, if I¹m so darned nice, why am I still single? ~(;-(
Anyhow, after you and Chris left, I got my ³City Fix². (Linda shouldn¹t short-sheet Victorville it¹s a great town spread all over this valley-something for everybody.) I used the city map you gave me went back to the mall, took in a movie, got another Starbucks fix, did the Wal*Mart fox-trot, tried to get a cord I need from the Verizon store and took off to find the Mac store that Chris told me about. (Linda had marked the map with the most important places.)
And she gave me a map you western states boondocking people might enjoy:

Rumor has it she's headed up to my neck of the woods one of these days!  So...ply her with Starbucks huh?  Heck, there's a Starbucks on every corner up here.

Heck Sue, you¹ll find that I¹m a pretty cheap date. Would love to meet you and Concord is one of my favorite places. Shopping at Nordys and that little brick building ice cream place on the corner. On Broadway, I think.
The one where they whiz in about a pound of toasted almonds into the chocolate ice cream. Yum!!!
I worked at Alta Bates in Berekely and lived out your way-Montclair area. I remember how the temp would rise after the drive through the Caldecutt Tunnel from the west to east side. Amazing.

I¹m outta here sun¹s up.

Sarah
