Is there a trick to getting the correct results when you do a search for a particular topic from all messages for this group?  90% of what comes up for me is unrelated to the topic I entered in the search box.  I have tried putting quote marks around the topic but that doesn't help.  Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Sally, The reason you may often find messages that don't relate to your search is that often people change the topic of a thread instead of starting a new one. Even if you change the subject line when replying as was once suggested I've found in searching that those also come up and have nothing to do with the topic being searched other than the fact that the original post was about the topic. If you find that happens using the [Up Thread] link at the bottom of a message (if it is blue and not gray) often will get you to one that does pertain to the subject you are searching.
Yahoo also only searches a set number block of messages at first and has the option to search more. That will often find messages more along the lines you are looking for. Again if the subject wasn't changed to reflect a newer topic it can appear the messages that come up don't pertain to your search subject but when viewed they may since the search looks not only at the subject field but the message text as well.
Sometimes if you use a single word, if that is possible, it helps. I know it can be frustrating but you are searching. Often searches of any kind no matter what they are for (computer/web related or otherwise) don't always yield the results we wish for immediately.
With persistence though you often get the results you are looking for and it can often be where you least expect it.

Good luck in your searches!

Mike
