Update on my adventures (or should I say Misadventures?)
Yahoo Message Number: 19686
Hi all,
Wanted to bring everyone up to speed on what has happened since leaving Texas.  Met up with Sarah and Lorene in Casa Grande, AZ,  a couple of weeks ago at a WINs get-together.  Was great seeing them again.  Had planned on meeting them when they were still in Quartzsite, but didn't quite make it :-( .  Left Casa Grande for the LD factory on Feb. 24.  I had an appt set up for the 27th for them to start work on repairing the damage to the coach.  Actually arrived on the 26th and after Tim saw the damage, which was worse then he had anticipated, we decided that I would wait until the 3rd to bring her in and then he would put someone on it as a priority.  That way he could finish some other work that was still sitting there.  Brought her back on Thursday so the insurance adjuster could go over the estimate with Tim.  They agreed to what Tim has written up so everything was a GO for Monday.  So off I went to camp out in my MH for the rest of the time until Monday at a camp ground in Cherry Valley.  Found the area to be really beautiful.  When I showed up on Monday Tim was waiting for my MH.  For a week they worked on her and on Saturday I went over to see what progress they had made.  Turns out they had replaced the entire panel on the driver's side.  Tim told me the MH now is in better shape than it was when it was built (97) due to the improvements that they have made in the interim.  So now I will have a better coach when they are finished than when I left MN.  Of course I wouldn't recommend having an accident to upgrade a motor home.   :-D Tomorrow they will begin the process of painting her.  Tim thinks they may be finished by the end of the week if all goes well with the painting (from what he told me, the red LD are the most difficult to paint as they have to cover every part of the MH that is not being painted as the over spray from the red paints settles everywhere).  I have to say I have been very impressed with everything regarding LD since I arrived.  Tim has been absolutely terrific.  Ed has regaled me with interesting tidbits about LD and the ladies in the office have gone out of their way to be helpful.
After the factory is finished doing their work, I will then be going back to a Ford Truck dealership for them to finish the work they need to do.  The alignment needs to be redone and I need a new instrument panel as some of the gauges no longer register.  I also want the brakes checked as that wasn't done at the TX dealership and after the accident, I had no brakes.  The instrument panel will take the longest because they can't order the part until they have the vehicle because they have to "spin" the odometer to match the current miles.  Ideally, I will have my MH back in pre accident shape by the end of next week.  Keep your fingers crossed.  I hope to be able to go a couple of days to the big FMCA "to do" in Pomona next week.
It turned out that I had to get a rental car and motel for the duration, but even with that I have been exceptionally lucky.  I opted to join FMCA's Coach Net as my emergency road service.  I chose them initially because you can call them for technical information and I felt I would be using that service the most.  In truth, I have used them for unlocking a car I locked the keys in, getting me the wrecker after the accident, but most important, I discovered they will reimburse me up to $2000 for hotels, food and rental car while my MH is having work done.
:-)   Subsequently, the most I have seen on other ERS plans have been $500.  So if anyone is wondering what ERS I would recommend, Coach Net would win hands down.
I uploaded some photos of my MH after the accident for anyone who wishes to see the damage.

Great to hear from you Kathi. Sarah informed me of your problems and I really feel for you. Glad to hear that you will be back on the road soon and that this will all become a good "war" story one day.
I don't think I have your current email address but you have mine so if you are heading back to the midwest this spring let me know and I'll fwd my itineray. Maybe we can meet. I'll be back in Mpls approx May 1 with "Mame", the new love of my life!
