How many solar panels can be installed on a 1991 22ft LD?  Is there any value in adding them if I move to Washington state?  What kind of expense am I looking at?  I've added a battery disconnect switch to prevent slow battery drain when I'm not using the RV (both on the coach and on the engine as I had to replace all the batteries recently).  Thanks for the useful information I always get from the group.

This would depend on which model you have (1 of 3). Our front lounge model has two 53 watt panels mounted over the 'kitchen' latitude.
They are roughly centered on the roof and lie between the air conditioner and bathroom vent.

There are some pics in 'photos' under 'solar panels' at the enhancements group:

Sonia,  We have four solar panels mounted lengthwise, 2x2, on the passenger rear side, to the right of the vent and air conditioner.
This is on a '89 T/K.

"I've added a battery disconnect switch to prevent slow battery drain when I'm not using the RV"
That switch won't prevent your batteries from self-discharging, which is something all batteries do. After three or months months in storage they will be flat, regardless of whether there's any load on them or not. That's one thing solar panels are good for: they keep your batteries topped off.

As pointed out in a recent message, my 1985 22' LD has four panels, and there's probably room to add two more if I really wanted. But you can easily find out for yourself: look up the dimensions of the panel you have in mind in the Camping World catalog (they're roughly 2' x 4') and then go up on your roof and see how many you could fit. Cut a piece of cardboard that size if you want to be really accurate.

By the time I return home, my car will have sat for almost 4 months.
Thanks to this group I knew to use a fuel additive and my local mechanic told me to just disconnect the negative terminal to eliminate power usage of the security system and clock. It is in a heated indoor garage.
Any chance that my car will start when I get home? I had intended to take it immediately for an oil change and to make sure the battery reconnect is solid.
I can't get my LD close enough to jump start so I guess I'll have to plan on calling a service to come and get me started.

Maybe, maybe not. Others in the group can probably answer this more authoritatively than I. I wouldn't bet on it, in any case.

There are low-cost trickle chargers that can be used to keep a car battery in good shape...again, perhaps someone else can suggest a specific brand.
Since your car will be in a garage, you can't use a dashboard solar panel to keep the battery topped off, so unless you can connect a low-power trickle charger you may indeed have to call AAA for a jump-start when you get home.

As I intend to be towing my car in the future this is a one time problem/potential problem for me. I'll deal with it in May. In the meantime, I'll just enjoy my LD and the lifestyle it provides.

Thanks for the "heads up" on this. It's always easier to deal with anticipated problems than nasty surprises.
