Aluminum Wheels for Paisley December 30, 2024, 06:42:07 pm When I picked up the new mirrors for Paisley (The name I came up with for our 99MB) I also scored a set of Ultra 002 aluminum wheels. They have a front designated and rear designated part numbers and load ratings. Also they weigh in at a very trim 21.6 pounds. I hope the weight difference is good for 1 MPG LOL. I think the front can be used on the rears but not vice versa . I think if one were to order just the fronts you could have the ability to rotate tires. But since these are new to me I just went with what I had, but put in some elbow grease and they didn't turn out too bad. 3 Likes

Re: Aluminum Wheels for Paisley Reply #2 – December 30, 2024, 09:51:40 pm Thanks Ron. My tire shop, Tucker Tire in Covina, got me all squared away. They did a one piece extension for the inner rears and put a fillable valve stem cap and high pressure valve stem for the fronts giving me all the access I need. a good thing to note is that the ultra 002 rear wheels come with valve stems already installed from ultra, I believe. If anyone needs tires or tire service I can't say enough good things about Tucker Tire Covina. Been a customer there for 25 years.

Re: Aluminum Wheels for Paisley Reply #4 – December 31, 2024, 08:43:09 pm Very nice rims. Great job on doing the detail work. I’m sure your tire service tech did a fantastic job installing the aluminum rims. It has been noted here that aluminum dually’s do best if an anti seize compound is applied between the two wheels. This assures easy removal of the rims from one another in the event of a tire change. Just a thought. Kent 3 Likes

This assures easy removal of the rims from one another in the event of a tire change. Over the past two decades, there have been a couple of Forum reports of the rear steel and aluminum wheels corroding together, making removal of the wheels difficult and damaging both wheels. Using an ant-seize paste and buttering the contact surfaces between the rear wheels is highly recommended. This problem is especially bad in areas with road salt use and long-term beach campers.Larry 2 Likes
Re: Aluminum Wheels for Paisley Reply #6 – January 02, 2025, 05:20:11 pm I was going to swing up and have the lug nut torque checked. I guess I will make an appointment to have the wheels removed so that anti-seize can be applied to the mating surfaces. 2 Likes
