Very interesting.  Thanks for sharing.  I can see many LD up for sale when California bans all gas motorhomes.

That all electric RV is sure getting closer to reality!!

Hi Ron; (the other Ron); This rule only applies to new vehicles introduced into the state. I don't think a diesel pusher is in my future in any event.
Lithium being the lightest possible solid element isn't going to power anything needing real horsepower in the 14,000 pound range, any time soon. Maybe a class ' B' Transit van in the 3000 pound range with 3000 pounds of battery....
A hydrogen tank burning air (oxygen) to make electricity, (keep the pure water) is the most likely scenario.  RonB

As the video explains (and motorhome chassis manufacturers confirm), it isn't. That's the problem.

Modern diesel engines have become emission regulated nightmares.

It all is a scam to make everyone believe that diesel is a bad choice in fuels.
I think diesel is the best choice in fuels and going forward I'd like to see
diesel/electric hybrids. That is a direction I can support.
Going all electric isn't going to work out very well, at least in my lifetime.

Hi Sam; Thanks for that link also.  Of note in a related part of that article; I was unaware that non-refillable tanks would be banned in California, starting January first, 2028. That date (at first stated for January 2025) is still a long way away at 2028.    California Set To Ban Single-Use Propane Cans For Camping
I carry several tanks for the barbeque. Also for a propane torch 'fire starter' used at campgrounds that have grills (and charcoal) if I know that in a group setting I'll be cooking with charcoal. I also have a pelletized wood fire pot that I use charcoal lighter fluid, and that propane torch to light.
Looks like I need to start refilling my 'disposable' tanks with propane from my home barbeque 5 gallon tank. Once should take care of me for years!  I do use the screw on caps while storing the tanks inside my rig. (Thanks Joan Taylor for educating me about those).  A once used tank, doesn't always seal when disassembled. I use these caps even on new tanks.  Amazon.com : Hotop 6 Pcs Propane Tank Caps 1 lb Solid Brass Refill Cap Gas...   RonB

If nothing else, It should make our older motorhomes worth more.
We'll see how this works out. a ZEV motorhome is a pipe dream at this point in terms of affordability and the lack of a widespread charging infrastructure.

1-lb refillable propane canisters and a refilling device that transfers gas from a 20-lb BBQ-type propane can are available.
We used refillable canisters for two years before switching back to a refillable 11-lb propane canister for the BBQ and a propane camping stove. For our usage, an 11-lb can is simpler to deal with.

Ten states will have the same rules.
The ACT regulations will take effect the following states.
California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington Takes effect with the 2025 model year.
Vermont Takes effect with the 2026 model year.
Colorado, Maryland, New Mexico, and Rhode Island.   Takes effect with the 2027 model year.

If reducing carbon emissions is to be achieved, control of mass polluters, such as trucks and motorhomes, needs to be part of the reduction package.  The political situation may lead to changes or elimination of the new rules. Time will tell.
