Front Cap Fake Windows
Our 09 had the black fake windows on the front cap. Those babies were looking pretty sad. I guess they must be cutouts for real windows as the fiberglass is quite thin with no backing. Anyhow, I painted them white and like the look better. I added a couple of decals to try out that look. Might go back to the plain white. Still thinkin' about it.

I also put on a new Lazy Daze decal which I got from Todd awhile back. A word of warning for anyone replacing the LD and California decal. I used a 3M decal wheel which I have used quite a bit in the past. It removed the large LD decal as expected but when I went at the Montclair, CA decal, off came that nice white paint. For now I covered it with a Tucson decal.

Safe to say they were never intended to be other than fake windows. Earlier models with a one-piece real window had serious leak issues, so the fake windows were just because of "the look".

Hi Steve;  Funny! I remember that exact quote from Ed about 25 years ago.   Back then I had a friend with a class "C" that had a front window. Driving back from Yosemite they encountered a rock fall at speed and a small rock destroyed the window. They had small shards of glass embedded all over the back wall and inside.  Good thing they were the only occupants, and were both seated in the front.  After they had the window replaced, we put a 1-1/4" piece of rigid foam up against the window, for better temperature performance. So might as well not have had a window. For my previous motorhome (not an LD) I had done the same thing. I was concerned that I might break it from inside.  The side cabover windows, and roof vent were sufficient for ventilation.  RonB
