Replacing steering stabilizer 2002 E-450 Super Duty
I'm changing out the steering stabilizer on my LD.
I've run  into a problem. I can not remove one bolt because the tie rod is in the way.
I don't want to disconnect the tie rod unless it is necessary. Please see attached photo.

Thanks!

Are there signs of frame or suspension damage? It should never get this close. With the wheels straight, there is plenty of clearance on our '04.

Never wrecked. I removed the nut and pushed the bolt back as far as it would go.
A mechanics friend told me if I jacked up the front the wheels and tie rod would lower giving me enough clearance to push the bolt through.

If there is no damage, I'm wondering if the tie rod is just turned a little. On mine (photo #1) I have juuuuuuust enough clearance to get that bolt out. The tie rod is not straight; it's got a little built in contour to it. I think I would unbolt the driver side tie rod (photo #2) and give the tie rod a little spin until the bolt clears. Good luck.

Well I had to disconnect the stabilizer mount from the frame. A pain in the butt, but installed.
Thanks for your help.

For those doing this in the future, place a hydraulic jack under the cross member at the front of the oil pan and lift, this will move the tie-rod downward and out of the way. Reassemble, placing the bolt in from the opposite side.

Thanks Larry. A mechanic friend told me to do this. Unfortunately I didn't have a floor jack or stands. I will purchase these for future projects.
