Tires July 29, 2024, 11:59:46 am Hi,Took truck to dealer for regular maintenance. They found wear and tear stuff costing around 900. One of the item is battery and I think they may cover it as they changed battery recently and it may be covered by part warrenty which will bring the bill to around 700. Battery is working fine, they explained me the reason which I could not comprehend.I told them my next trip is 6K+ trip and they should be aggressive looking for potential issues. I have 38000 miles and they told me that tires need to be changed. They tried to explain the issue and I don't think issue is usage it is more of age or something. I don't know enough but do have to trust them. They told me that tires are similar to stock tires but newer version. They also assured me that they don't have the tires in stock and have to get it from warehouse means they will be newer tires. I was expecting truck tires to be more expensive based on my collection from readings here but they quoted me 1900 for all six tires installed. Even though I thought price was fair I tried to bargain mentioning discount tires and costco and they mentioned they have to be competitive with everybody to be around ... make sense with tire price.Anyway, I learned long time ago to accept where I am weak and surround myself with folks better than me. Perhaps I may have paid few bucks more and perhaps my proof of concept is about to complete but getting stuck in the middle of no where by ignoring knowlegeable (though may be biased) advice is not wise. I understand very well everybody is in different situation.Instead of going to costco, I will be walking on jersey shores for couple of hours ...Cheers,

It is prudent to replace tires before they reach seven years of age (unless they are cracked or damaged), and I often get 40,000 to 50,000 miles out of a set of tires.Harold

By the time I come back home after next trip I will be way over what Herold get from a set of new tires and I guess this is what mechanic was Illuding to.I am glad I did hear from two experienced members. I might stick with current motorhome for little longer as we are finding lot of thing closer to home and with in comfort of US/Canada/Baja or move to semi truck (internation 4x4 supper single h504 is leading contender) and get slrv or Bliss Mobile box. In the first scenario I will stick with this dealer and your response give me confidence that he is not trying to take advantage of me.No more responses needed. Happy with getting 40kI see nothing wrong with replacing them a bit early with a long trip coming up. Considered it myself on this 18,000 mile trip.

Folks take years and years and years to circumvent the globe by road and you casually mentioned 18K miles trip.
