New escape hatch and re-seated AC unit
I had to replace the old escape hatch, it wasn’t closing tightly anymore. We installed a larger one and I like the bigger size.  We did cut out about two inches on the passenger side and also toward the front to make the hole bigger to fit the new unit.
At the same time we removed the existing AC unit from its mount, replaced the gasket and re-sealed the whole thing. I took the opportunity to repaint the inside cover a nice crisp cream color.
We were having some water leaks in through the old gasket. I can’t stop lake Newton from forming but I can keep it out of the inside. I wanted to be sure to get everything on the roof water tight before the next rainy season. It took all day.  I’m glad it’s done and off my always growing list of LD projects.
