2005 26' mid-bath. All 12v receptacles have stopped working.
2005 26' mid-bath. I am stumped by this new problem. So I had an issue with loss of house battery power for everything, that I eventually traced to a broken battery crossover cable. That is, the house battery cable that connects the positive from one battery to the cut-off switch. The lead that connects to the switch broke and all electric power to the house stopped. Reconnecting the lead fixed most of the problems, but now none of my 12v receptacles work. I've replaced the 12v fuse in the house fuse box, but still no joy. Are there other hidden fuses I can try?

Thanks,

Hi David;  Just the 'cigarette lighter' type receptacles in the 'house'?  The ones in the dash have fuses in the Ford electrical.  All of mine in the house part have a common fuse in the distribution panel 12 volt section.
Now I've added some sockets around the coach that have their own local fuses, but LD didn't do that to my knowledge. Are these receptacles still non working when on shorepower?  The converter supply is independent of the batteries themselves.  If only the receptacles don't work, (Lights, fans, water pump still work) there has to be a fuse somewhere you haven't looked at yet.  It should be in that row of 12 volt fuses.   RonB

Thanks for the reply Ron. Yes all the 12v receptacles are out. Everything else seems to be working. As I understand it, one of my dash receptacles is wired to the house batteries, the other is wired to the coach batteries. Neither work, nor do any of the others. I can't find any reference to where other fuses might be.

David, how are you testing these receptacles? If by using a compatible plug, note that these usually have an internal fuse reached by unscrewing the end.

Have you reset the master 12V breaker? It's either 1) a gray or black box about the size of an ice cube, with a tiny round unlabeled reset button, located inside the opening of the drawer under the fridge, on the left. Pull out the drawer and feel around to the left. Or 2) a black box with either a red reset button or a yellow reset lever, located at the back of the battery box.

Steve I think you might be right. I was testing with my GPS 12v device and it didn't work. I also tested with another plug-in device an it also didn't work. After your suggestion, I tried a third 12v plug and it powered up whatever I connected with it. The GPS was plugged in when the problems started happening, but not the second plug I tried so I thought it was a house fuse problem and not a blown fuse problem.

I can't seem to change the GPS fuse - the plug doesn't seem to want to come apart to get to the fuse without destroying the thing. The other plug came apart, but I don't have the proper fuse to replace it with. I'll pick one up tomorrow to see if that helps.

thanks much steve,

I'll take a look at that in the morning. I've discovered the receptacles do work using a different plug to inserted into the receptacle. I may have blown the fuses inside the plugs of the other two devices - a Garmin GPS and another 3rd party plug-in.
