Anyone replace the rear (continental) tire cover before?
Hi - we have a 2010 MB and the tire cover is cracked. We have a replacement COVER, but are not sure how to remove the cracked one. The hinge is permanently sealed to the RV body and removing the rivets to the cracked tire cover didn't do the trick. Help! Has someone done this already? All advice is appreciated. Thanks! LINDA

Hi Linda (Redondo);  Welcome to the Owners group!  We hope your stay here goes well.  I haven't looked recently, but you say you've removed the 'pop' rivets holding the piano hinge to the cover.  I'm sure some adhesive was used to stick the cover to the hinge, but it should come unstuck, and just fall off.  I've repaired a small crack while it was 'in place'. Some Bondo, and ABS glue from the back (inside).  Your rig is 11 years newer, but I doubt they changed the method of attachment.  (I'll go take a look at mine)     RonB

Hi Ron, thanks for the welcome! I have lots to learn and this forum is perfect for me!

My husband thinks industrial glue or tape was used in addition to the rivets since the cover remained in tact after the rivets were removed. We were able to gently pry the old cover out without ruining the hinge, but it was a tough project. I'll post before and after pictures once we finish.
