Short term parking for RV while visiting family
Greetings - We will be visiting my daughter in a northern Chicago suburb for 4 days at the end of June and want to park our 31' LD at a secure location for 3 nights. We will be staying at my daughters home for the visit and not in the RV. There is not adequate parking at her home for the RV. Suggestions for where to get short term parking? Just pay for 3 nights at a nearby campground even if we won't be staying there? Rent a parking space at a local storage unit? Have others run into this situation? What have you done? Thanks for any ideas/suggestions.

My son in law’s family live in Northbrook, haven’t visited with my RV (yet) but have already scoped out the area.

Campgrounds are quite rare in the area, closest one to Northbrook is Camp Reinberg in Palatine IL, about 20 minutes west of Northbrook.

Haven’t been there, but it looks like a fine place, and they had midweek openings for late June.

Many private RV parks have RV storage available, we have done this a few times over the years. Call the RV parks nearest your daughter's and inquire if parking is available and what rates.
One positive thing about paying for a hookup site is leaving the refrigerator and A/C on. My recollections of Chicago at the end of June are hot and muggy.

Enjoy your trip.

Last September we stayed at Camp Reinberg while attending Elizabeth's high school reunion in Des Planes. It only have 5 RV sites w/electric only. We enjoyed staying there. Reservations are required. There is not much available in that region for any RV camping.

"Suggestions for where to get short term parking?"

In any metropolitan area like Chicago there must be short term parking at nearby airports. Doubt if it would be necessary to make a flight just to park a vehicle!   ::)

You don't mention which Northern suburb you will be visiting, but you might want to check out Illinois Beach State Park, located near Zion, IL.  It has over 200 campsites as I recall, and is probably as secure as possible these days, at least your MH won't stand out.  It is our favorite place to camp on our trips to Chicago, and while we never towed, Enterprise in Zion was happy to pick us up at the campground.  It is relatively convenient to far Northern suburbs and not a bad trip into downtown.
