What’s Up With EMP? February 05, 2023, 01:21:30 pm [Disallowed subject matter removed from post - Michelle]wondering how I could protect my LD solar array from lightning strikes and the albeit unlikely event of an EMP strike. I found this on YouTube… https://youtube.com/watch?v=8ywNpMkpt34&feature=sharehttps://youtu.be/-_Qpuf3popgSo the question now is…what do you think? Kent
Re: What’s Up With EMP? Reply #1 – February 05, 2023, 02:24:01 pm Electricity like water takes the path of least resistance. Since the lazy daze is surrounded with aluminum I'd guess an electric strike of any kind would go there before trying to overcome glass or other organic substances.glen

Re: What’s Up With EMP? Reply #3 – February 05, 2023, 05:43:33 pm I think you are pretty safe as she is sitting on 6 rubber tires which would help protect it I would think..
Re: What’s Up With EMP? Reply #4 – February 05, 2023, 06:15:44 pm Just stay inside the LD, Kent, and you should be fine. There are benefits, tho . . . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNmkGep6McE
Re: What’s Up With EMP? Reply #5 – February 05, 2023, 06:16:21 pm Rubber tires don't prevent lightning from striking a vehicle. But being inside a metallic shell can do a reasonably good job of protecting the occupant from lightning, as I can testify from experience.EMP (electromagnetic pulse) is not lightning. While a true metallic "Faraday cage" that completely surrounds you should protect from EMP, a Lazy Daze has enough large openings that are transparent to electromagnetic radiation that I wouldn't bet on it protecting my electronics from a major EMP.

Re: My apologies Reply #9 – February 05, 2023, 11:36:01 pm Lots planned for LD travel. Morro Bay next month and a few local trips before I take my daughter back to Yellowstone for our third trip next September. Always a pleasant time to visit the park. Thanks,Kent
