Marker Lights Again

2010 RB - Amber Marker/running light on the front of the Cab (fixture base) is broken.

After trying to read most of the previous posts, and the Companion I am still confused.

Is Bargeman #34-59-012 a replacement for the original?  I would like to order the entire fixture.  I am alright to stay with incandescent bulbs.  It looks like what I have.

Light works, just has a broken fixture (on the top) the worst place for water intrusion.

Suggestions?

Cheers!

Hi Tony;  You need to replace the broken fixture.  The fixture lists a #94 bulb. It said bayonet, but I can't seem to find a description of those.  Maybe they have just the glass base, and not the plastic base of the #194.  If the fixtutures fit them, they can be replaced with these Amazon.com: WEIMELTOY 194 Led Car Bulb 3030 Chipset 2SMD T10 194 168 W5W Led...  identified as #194. They work well. I bought the white ones, although they are available in colors also. So with side marker lights, a bag of ten red and a bag of ten amber should do all of the outside lights.   They are polarity sensitive, so if they don't work, just pull them out and reverse them.
To get the covers to snap on easier, less stress on the plastic, I use a minute (very small) amount of silicone dielectric grease on the edge of the fixture, and edge of the lens. They snap on easier, and may be slightly more water tight. After the lense is seated properly you can wipe off any excess. I also put some on the wires of the bulb base to protect the metal parts from corrosion. Some water vapor will get inside, and in cold weather can condense inside. Especially on the contact bases.  Not so much for power savings but more for long lasting LED chips instead of filaments.
My inside cabin lights from LD in '99 benefitted from these. Whiter, brighter in the front.  They don't dim down to zero like the incandescent's did, they just go off. Again, polarity sensitive, so flip them around.  You've got a 50-50 chance it'll work the first time.   RonB

Thanks to all of you who offered great suggestions and support.

Yes, I did need an entire fixture, as the fixture was broken, and lens cracked.

I did find (IMO) the perfect clone replacement from Amazon.  See the link below.

$6.99 and some change for a complete fixture (base and lens) incandescent.

All of the other lights are in very good condition and working.  I don't want to change stuff that isn't broke (yet).

Again, thank all of you for your continued support and guidance.

Did you or do you intend to replace the 'incandescent' bulbs with LEDs?

Hi Steve

No.

The running lights are only used when I am driving with the headlights on, so I am not concerned about power draw.

The rest of the RV has LED bulbs (except for the running lights).

For me it's a non-issue.

If I do decide to change the running lights (front and rear) to LED's - there are several fairly easy conversion kits available as mentioned in the above thread.

Cheers!

"The rest of the RV has LED bulbs (except for the running lights)."

I'm such a 'day bird' that I was always on my roost when the sun went down, can't ever remember driving the LD at night.

However, when it came time to do a LED conversion I went full monte, inside, outside, the whole shebang!  ::)   ;)
