A little extra 'service'
Had the rig for 60 K service this week at the Ford dealer.
Somebody moved something in the way and this little chunk was taken out of the left leading edge of the cabover end cap.
Service rep is having someone out to look and estimate repairs today.  Should know more tomorrow.
Don't say feces when you mean to say . . . . .

Last week outside of Portland, something flew off a truck going the other way and barely missed the drivers side window, instead left this behind the window.

I suspect it was a chunk of wood as it didn’t sound like a rock.

Can’t see it worth the effort to fix, other than dab a bit of paint on it.

Zooming in on the photo, appears the cap is a composite, some type of fiber-reinforced plastic (fiberglass?), and an ABS outer shell.
Let us know how this is repaired.

Joel,

I had somewhat the same experience when I took my 2017 MB to a Ford Service place that worked on RVs.  When they were bringing it down from the lift, somehow they banged the side of the cabover - see attached.  Everyone from the owner to the janitor apologized to me.  I took it to a place I had other body work done and they fixed the BooBoo and charged Ford $6,000.  A few months later when I tried setting up an appointment there for an oil change, they said they no longer worked on RVs.   Hmmmmm.

It really hurts when your rig is new, but after while I just think these are battle scars.  Every single one is a story.  I can almost list them on old vehicles I don't even own anymore.

Dealer very apologetic,  had someone out to estimate that afternoon.  Picked up on Thursday, expect to get it back Wednesday.
Hopefully back on time.  I need to take to to Quality Solar in Rough & Ready (outside of Grass Valley CA) so Dan can install Lithium batteries & inverter.   Stay tuned

When the first car I restored myself was stolen (my teens/early 20s), the shell was identified by the scrape I got from dodging a 55 gallon drum someone set up on the freeway onramp.  I know the war wounds I've put on Blue (1990 MP), and Ghost (2005 RB).  Both got nailed by basketball hoops early on.  And lots of branch scrapes.  They've both held up well!
