Interesting read… it’s all crystal ball stuff but I think the author did a good job describing the reasons for high prices in RVs.  Will prices go down anytime soon is anyone’s guess, but I think the Mothership might have a different take when she says “RV manufacturers are finally catching up on production of RVs”.  I do hope so for the sake of new LDOF members looking to buy.

I think RV shoppers are fooling themselves if they think prices will come down. 

Hoping to have inventory available to buy (at the new higher price) might be a more reasonable wish.

Major RV companies are stuck with multibillion-dollar backlogs as demand remains high

The biggest trend I see, which is alluded I guess, is that lots of people in their 50's and 60's have stepped off of the career treadmill and they aren't getting back on.  Instead, they are doing today all of the things they were putting off for 'retirement', like seeing the USA.  With their retirement savings accounts at all time highs, having watched people who aren't much older than them get sick, who can blame them?

The used market should be interesting in a few years though.

Last month (May) we were finally able to de-winterize our LD.  We took our first trip to Texas Hill country and to Big Bend National Park.   In preparation of our trip and during our trip we had the following issues:
     The bathroom door was binding and difficult to latch.  We shimmed the hinges and the latch and now it works fine.
     The main entrance door was scraping door rain gutter.  We filed both surfaces and now have no issue.
     The wheel simulators won't stay on the rear wheels.  There are the type attaches to 2 of the lug bolts and there are only 1-1 1/2 threads exposed beyond the lug nuts.  The front wheels have 3-4 threads exposed and there are no issues with the simulator attaching.  We talked to Todd and he said that their supplier no longer provides the simulators that clip on.
     Near the end of the trip the water heater quit working.  We are scheduled to bring it in to our local RV for service.
     We had a problem with the driver assist where we would get the display "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC" and also "PRE-COLLISION ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE" and then the cruise control would kick off.  It was a known problem with Ford on the 2021 and some 2022 chassis.  It was fixed under warranty by modifying the software of the ABS module by the local Ford dealer.

Even though we had these issues we still enjoyed our LD and are looking forward to many trips in the future.

I had the same problem with my 2021 MB.  The front were ok but there were barely any threads left over on the rear to lock the wheel simulators in place.  I used some blue Locktite and didn’t over tighten the standoffs on the simulators.  So far they’ve held on.

I don’t have driver assist but I did have a problem with the Ford computer display.  Whenever I came to a stop I would get a warning message saying that the transmission was engaged.  Sometimes it would also say that the parking brake wasn’t set.  I found a Ford Fleet Center in Merced that worked on RVs.  They preformed a safety recall on the power steering lines, which passed, and also found that the drivers side door  push button switch was defective.  The Ford computer thought the door was open and it was telling me to disengage the transmission and/or set the parking brake.  Everything was covered under warranty.

Just like you found, there were some minor issues, but nothing compared to what I’ve seen from SOB’s.  Due to Covid and supply shortages I had to wait nearly 2 years for my MB, but the build quality and floor plan is excellent and I’m very happy for making the decision to purchase a Lazy Daze.
