Sony WX-920BT Radio Replacement ?
We had this radio installed in our 2019 MB by Lazy Daze when we selected the Sirius XM Satellite Radio option. We've had some problems with it such as the volume knob not working, so we would like to replace it with some other radio that would fit into the same space in the dashboard. Has anyone done that ?

Thanks in advance.

Look up crutchfield.com and they have folks who will talk to you and the web site allow to i put vehicle model to select only those that fit....they also have wiring harnesses so you do bot have to cut any wires.perfict fit to Ford connector to radio. Lots od videos on utube to show how to get dash apart without breaking things....very important to get the plastic trim kit from them or amazon..5 to 10 $.
I would not select HD .garmin does not update the older Kenwood  navigation units from what i understand. Just ask the important question from reviews on model out on the web. Good luck

Bill, my 2017 came with the Sony WX-900BT which has a remote. Assuming yours has a remote also, is it the remote or radio which is giving you problems?

Greg,

You indirectly fix my problem !

The problem was with the volume control knob. It wasn't working correctly - I would turn it to the right and that might raise or lower the volume. The same result if I turned it to the left. Sometimes the radio was so soft you couldn't hear it and other times it was so loud you had to shut off the radio and try again later

The owners manual mentioned a firmware update, so I went to a Sony website that had very good instructions on how to do it. Download the file, unzip it, copy it to a flash drive and insert the drive into the USB port on the front of the radio. All of that worked up to the point of inserting the drive into the radio which displayed a message "Update Failed", so I figured it was time for a new radio not from Sony.

The light bulb moment was you mentioning the remote, which I never used in the three years that we've had the motorhome. I found that I can now control the volume using the remote instead of turning the knob, so life is good.

My next step will be to buy a spare remote so that when I misplace this one, I'll have a backup until I find the other one.

Thanks again,

Bill

For others reading this thread. I had Crutchfield replace my radio a couple years ago.  Their headquarters is in Charlottesville VA. They operate one storefront where you can get work done and that too is in Charlottesville VA.
so if you happen to be on the east coast you can get the the ability to use the website to talk to them about your needs and have a very professional installation done.  There is a considerable wait last I checked, a little over a year ago.
I installed a 2DIN Panasonic receiver a few years ago and really liked it.  There threads about DYI installs and for my o7 LD I thought some of the trimming might be above my skill level.  Not by much, buy an error would bother me as every time I adjusted the radio I would see it.

I had my Sony WX-920BT radio replaced with a Sony XAV-AX5500 touchscreen radio.  The old Sony is perfectly functional except for the volume, which must be controlled with the remote.  I'd like to offer my old radio to anyone in the Lazy Daze community. I like to recycle things, so I'll even pay for the shipping.
