Sorry if I offended you, I wasn't questioning your judgment, I'm genuinely curious, my nineteen-year-old 2003 LD has been parked outside all its life and needs the lower-trim painted and wide stripe replaced. My wife and I plan on our 2003 being our last RV, if possible, but spending $20,000+ on a Factory paint job is not going to happen.
There are many types of paint, the polyurethanes last almost forever with care, a trait that isn't that needed on an older motorhome. A paint that will last ten years is long enough for my LD's needs and acrylic paint is fine for this application, it's what LD used for many years.  
BTW, your LD looks nice, it appears to be the same color I painted a dune buggy about half a century ago.

I'll chip in with Larry here. At 22 years the paint is having issues on my LD, and $15 K for a paint job would be an unwise expense considering what it is worth.  Like you I would just need the non white areas, (blue parts for me) painted. Acrylics will last at least 10 more years, and might last longer than me!  But I'm the type that likes to know more about the paint. I also plan on simplifying the striping and just have that painted on. 
   Larry knows that Steve Tivy had his rig painted about 2 years ago, in the L.A. area I believe, and had many issues with coverage and peeling in some locations. I saw it just days after the paint job, and it wasn't finished. Small defects that the painter was going to fix. I think that was also some type of acrylic. I haven't seen his rig since then. I suspect it is all squared away now.

Larry - I owe you an apology.  I've been single for many years and sometimes "feel the weight" of making decisions on my own - sometimes obsessing if I've made the right one.  I appreciate the advice that you (and others) have given to me on this forum and I apologize for the snarky "knee jerk" comment (which I deleted). 
Upkeep on an RV is a seemingly never ending task, and I sincerely appreciate when people have taken the time to offer their insight to help troubleshoot various issues and problems I've had with my Lazy Daze.

My philosophy regarding RV repairs and upgrades is they should at least be better than before.   My DIY projects are seldom any better than average and way less than an accomplished handy person. 

And this particular project looks to be a solid home run with bases loaded.   I just hope to see this LD someday.
