Off Topic- Driving Lessons
One of our granddaughters (Hannah) has traveled with us in our LD since 2014.   Last November she turned 16 years old.  Ever since her birthday, we have practiced driving to include driving to and from school every day.  And we practiced and practiced parallel parking relentlessly.

Today she took her driving test and she was as nervous as I’ve ever seen her.   She passed with a score of 96 which was so much better than my first driving test which I failed!!  (My nervous foot slipped off the clutch and the car lurched back out of the parking space into traffic.  The Examiner said come back next week and try again.)

I asked Hannah if she wanted to drive the LD on our next trip and this 16 year old rolled her eyes 👀.  I guess not.

Just a quick follow up note.  If you look closely at the picture, the license part is a large plaque.  The newly minted driver stands in the opening for a picture.  All the data is bogus.  For example, the city is Anytown, Texas.

Don't let her stop learning!

My 3rd teen is learning how to drive right now, and all of my young drivers have benefited tremendously from extra training.   The ideal is something where they can learn to correct understeer, oversteer, locked brakes...etc. with an instructor.

For too many young drivers, the first time they experience loss of car control is seconds before the accident.  It shouldn't be like that.

I firmly believe than anyone with kids or grandkids of driving age is doing them a huge favor by getting them involved with programs like this (ranging in price from free to not so free but still way less than the cost of an accident).

Brings back memories of my dad trusting me at 16 to drive the family in our GMC motorhome back in the mid 70s.  Wasn’t just a couple hours either, several days worth, including into the French Quarter of New Orleans.

Can’t say I would have done the same with my boys at 16.

I've been the driving instructor for every one of my nieces.
They all say that having me teach them was way less stressful than having their dad do it.
Four of them learned in a Suburban, a large SUV and can back into parking spaces with the best of them.

"... way less stressful than having their dad do it."

I am extremely glad that I was taught to drive by a professional, my Father, who was an over-the-road, long-haul truck driver for many years.

The instructions that he passed to me were, in turn, passed on to my two kids.   ;)

My dad taught us defensive driving, pop-the-clutch, speed shifting, drifting, etc., in a closed parking lot before we ever hit the streets.

Before I purchased Blue in 2000, I had my uncles Class C Monaco (yes, such a thing) for 3 years and learned to RV in that.  Nothing automatic, light the pilots by hand as needed, tail swing, what to do when the transmission won't downshift on a steep grade (learned that one on my own!).  Teaching Jennifer to drive at 18 was fun.  There were reasons waiting a few years there!!  At 37 years old she handles Blue like a champ.  Yes, never stop learning!
