Readybrute Elite braking system
Curious if any LD’ers are using this brake system for toads?  If so, how do you like it?  What’s your experience with it?  We’re towing an ‘01 Jeep Wrangler…

I use the NSA supplemental surge brake with the tow arms I already owned.  (With a blue ox base plate.)  Works perfect and no electronics to screw up.
I believe the Ready Brake Elite system is the tow bar/arms with the surge brake combined.  Nothing not to like.  You will just need a base plate.   The whole thing installs most easy on a Jeep Wrangler.
Multiple YouTube videos on this so you can see exactly how works.  Pretty sweet.

I use the whole system to tow my Jeep Liberty. It's the only system I've ever used so I can't compare it to anything else.

Works well for me. :-)

I've been using a ReadyBrute tow bar and braking system for four years. I don't have an LD yet, hopefully in FY22, been on the list for a year and 8 months! I'm towing with my Phoenix Cruiser 31', the same E450 chassis LD used in 2017.

I tow a 2017 Jeep JK four door, a lot of adds to the Jeep so I'm probably 5600 pounds. I had to replace the tow hitch on my RV to accommodate the Jeep once it exceeded 5000lbs, put a 8500 pound tow bar on the RV. I love this tow bar, controls the brake on the Jeep mechanically, no electrical parts to fail. I wired it so I have two lights on my dash, one when the ReadyBrute break lever is engaged and one when the Jeep break is engaged.

I've towed the Jeep on at least 12 long trips without a problem.

The one concern I have with the LD, upgrading the two hitch to handle the weight of my Jeep. I'm not worried about the Ford E450 being able to handle it, just getting the LD tow hitch upgraded.

Thanks all...  this is the towing system we've installed recently and I was just reassuring myself regarding any latent misgivings I might have had...   With our past MoHo's, we've always used the Air Force 1 because we had plenty of room to install the air tank in the engine compartment, but boy, those braking systems can be complicated.  The Readybrake is mechanical and very straight-forward.

Only question I have on it is since the braking action is inertia activated by the forward movement of the towed when the RV slows or stops, what keeps the brakes on the towed from being activated (pulled), when going down a steep mountain?    I'm assuming activation needs a more sudden braking action vs. more gradual movement?

Ready Brake has a shock absorber and spring that requires 250 pounds of pressure before the brake is activated. Just going down a steep grade won't cause it to engage.

A Ready Brake is a surge brake, similar to the type found on boat and travel trailers, especially rentals. It is a well-proven technology. . The only downside is it cannot be activated or tested without being in motion and having the tow vehicle brake hard.
