Mileage (honest) and interior width.

I would like to hear some honest miles per gallon from the owners of the 26.5 mid-bath with the V-10. I realize that all don't drive the same, but with enough responses, I could get a pretty good average. Also, what is the interior width of the 26.5 say from 1995 to present? We have been looking at them with a purchase in the future.

The mileage I am getting in our 2000 26.5 mid-bath is right at 10 mpg on the highway. So far, we only have 1340 miles on it since our pick-up date in March. Our last trip was up several grades (Cajon Pass, Tehachapi Mountains) to Sequoia Nat'l Park, over to the coast and down highways 1/101. We didn't stay on the freeway, either. From Bakersfield, we took Highway 245, which is a two lane windy farm road for a couple hours.
I have not pulled our boat on a trip yet, but will have a 1200 mile trip with boat coming up in July from Souther CA to Lake Almanor, near Mt Lassen in Northern CA...lots of steep grades going up 395.
As far as interior width...where would you like it measured? The width changes due to cabinets, the bathroom, dinette, etc. Two people walking side-by-side would have a tough time.

Sounds pretty good to me. Do you expect the mileage to improve as the engine gets broken in? The interior width that I was wondering about was the width from inside wall to inside wall. Also, if you sit on the couch in the rear, can you use the other couch/barrel chairs, as footstools? While I am at it Rob, when did you place your order? Did you have to wait like I am hearing several must do? Sounds like because of the quality of the LD, the wait is more than worth it! Thanks again, sure do appreciate getting all the info that I can.

I have been told that the mileage will improve after the 3000 mile break-in period, however, your mileage may vary...I am looking forward to seeing what effect our 3500-4000 lb 20 ft boat will have.
We placed our order in Sept 99, and received it March 9, 2000...LD is crankin' out about 25-30 coaches a month when chassis supply is good and on time. The wait is well worth it for the long-term satisfaction. We owned an '85 we bought used in '96 for a few years, then sold it to Greg(ld671)last September and he is happy with his purchase. We ordered and waited thru the time of year that we don't go anywhere, anyway...so the anxious wait was much easier. I live very close to the factory and have been aware of Lazy Daze my whole life because you see one driving around town nearly everyday.
It's the overall quality and satisfaction over many years that is worth the short 6-month wait.
As far as the inside dimension width, my rig is at my storage area...but exterior width is 99 inches. Subtract 2 1/2 to 3 inches on each side for insulation/wall thickness and you get 94 to 95 inches inside width.
Let me also add that it doesn't feel like you are driving a 27-foot, 14,000 lb vehicle...it's powerful, smooth and handles very well on curvey roads. Windy conditions are "a breeze", while I witness other larger Class A and other brands of Class C struggle and fight with the wind.
