Water Heater Questions August 09, 2021, 12:02:42 pm In the past I have been bad about giving enough information regarding issues. Hopefully I have improved.Something under where the 3-way fridge used to be-water heater?- starts up arbitrarily, with a squeal/squeek and a huff/puff. Almost like starting a new or repaired engine not getting enough fuel to fire up. I hear it run for a while and then it stops. It started doing this about 6 weeks ago. (I am running AC and not propane and the fuse is good).I bought the 22' MH in 2018 and it was born in 1990. I have never used the heater. So I switched it on today for 1hr. Intially the monitor light switched off for about 2 secs, but switched right back on. After 1hr there is no temp change of water. (Should I wait longer)?, or is someting wrong? Research varies in terms of red light staying off in newer models, vs red light staying on in older models. (How do I identify which manufacturers' heater I have and is my heater propane only)? I am thinking a big maybe. Propane tank is currently empty.

Fill it and then give it a try, report back here if it doesn't light and run.Larry 2 Likes

I suspect it is your furnace trying to start up, and it will cycle off if there is no propane. However, it should not do this at all unless your wall thermostat is switched 'on'. You probably accidentally switched it on, but if not, remove the cover and disconnect one of the wires. If this cures the problem, the thermostat is faulty.Steve 2 Likes
