Hot Feet! July 15, 2021, 09:25:02 am Hello LD 🚐 Family,How are you dealing with the HEAT coming off the doghouse on your trips? When the doghouse heats up so does the foot wells for both driver and passenger sides. It’s worse when temps outside are also high. My passanger often puts feet up on seat or turns sideways in chair. Should make a difference.As a fun fact, my 2021 is on recall because Ford didn't correctly install this material on some of the vehicles, resulting in hot foot for the drivers. I haven't noticed the issue, so I'm waiting to take mine in to the dealer.Linda 2 Likes

It's lined with a thick fiberglass insulated pad, covered with reflective aluminum. Rodents love the stuff for making nests in the V10's valley, between the heads. When the rodents rip the insulation off the doghouse, the heat that used to be blocked now comes through the doghouse's metal wall (firewall) and cooks your feet.I hope the above isn't your issue and that your foot is just becoming more sensitive to heat. You are traveling when the air temperatures are high and, just as importantly, the pavement temps are very high, the whole rig is going to be much hotter than it is in the other seasons. To get some relief, use the cruise control whenever possible and move your foot off the gas pedal.Is the dash A/C set to blow cold air into the footwells?I have twice repaired Lorna's LD after the resident wood rats did their damage.The photo above shows insulation ripped off the engine wall, it's next to the accelerator pedal. Most of the insulation was removed from the doghouse.The Factory insulation kits are hard to get and expensive, instead of using the OEM product, I used an aftermarket, underhood insulation. With care, most of the stock fasteners can be used to attach the new insulation, along with high-temp, spray adhesive, and aluminum duct sealing tape.Cool-It Mat Thermo Tec | Thermo TecLarry 4 Likes

Dad aka: Lazy Bones never complained about heat and when I was passenger I noticed it but didn’t mind. I will check the underside of doghouse when I’m back home. In the mean time we travel with small rechargeable fans. I bungeed one to her chair at her feet level so when turned on the fan would blow air in to foot well along with AC. This helped push the hot air up and out resulting in happier feet and passenger. I also had one blowing at my feet and noticed a difference. An improperly installed doghouse can leak around the rubber seals, letting heated air into the interior, around the feet.I find removing and reinstalling the doghouse to be hard on many LDs due to the extra carpet and padding LD installs on the doghouse. Have your passenger feel around the perimeter of the doghouse for entering hot air, while the rig is moving and the engine is hot.Larry 2 Likes
