Have any of you entertained this idea or looked into it?

Not a 4x4, but I've ordered a Ford Maverick for my toad since it is about 3700 lbs.  The Ranger is now more of a mid sized pickup and it weighs about 4500 lbs.  Seems like all vehicles sold in the US since 2010 have been slowly gaining weight.

Found this FoMoCo piece stating the new Maverick will be four down towable in hybrid form only.

Limited capability truck. But, May be an option for some given the Maverick, in hybrid form has some (1500 Lbs) cargo capacity, weighs 3,674 Lbs and has a City EPA of 40 mpg.
