30 Amp Plug Replacement
I believe I have done due diligence regarding the subject line. I would appreciate any input as I am no electrician. I have a reasonable idea as to what needs to happen. However I do need assistance on how to go about this. TIA all.

My cord end didn't burn as yours did but I installed a twist lock inlet plug. I left enough entrance cord to stick out about a foot and then I bought the Furrion round stainless steel plug which will fit exactly in the mouse hole if you take the cover door off, then I made up a cord with twist lock on one end and RV plug on the other.

Hi Mind; This isn't that complicated. The exposed brass corrodes, develops a not so good connection, then the poor connection (high resistance) develops more heat.  The more heat causes the plug to fail. Replace the plug, you loose about 4" of cord length, but the plug will be good for another twenty years.   Amazon.com: Camco Heavy Duty 30 AMP Mini PowerGrip Handle Male Plug Replaceme...
This one is what I used. It is a little smaller, so I can get it through the hatch hole where the rest of the attached cord goes. It still has a handle to make it easier to pull out of campground outlets.
It was easy to wire up. A phillips screwdriver, and a wire cutter and a stripper. Don't nick the stranded wires, don't have stray strands floating around inside the plug.   Silver screw is the white wire. Brass screw is the black wire. Green wire is ground and should be a green screw.   There may be instructions with the plug.    An annual visual inspection, and some brass cleaner is a good preventative measure.  RonB

If you're going to put in a new shore power inlet, you might want to consider putting in a SmartPlug rather than the old-style Marinco inlet. It costs more, but is a much better and more durable connection method. I believe it's standard on current Lazy Dazes.

Hi Andy.  Both Mind's and my LD are old enough to have the hard tethered power cable in a dedicated compartment. While the 'Smartplug' could be better than the Marinco, it is still too expensive to fix a problem I don't have.  I don't like having the power connector always out in the weather. When my cord is stowed, it and the plug end are safely inside. The cable is wire nutted into the power distribution box in a weather proof location, leaving only the plug to wear. And the plug is easy and inexpensive to replace. The Marinco, and 'Smartplug' entire cord set can both wander off quickly. RonB     (not all 'progress' is better)
