Garmin RV 890

Garmin has knocked off $100 for their RV 890 GPS Navigator for those in the market.  Available through various vendors, or direct from Garmin.  Just ordered one from Amazon:

Hi Greg;  Tantalizing!  Did you consider getting the dash cam?   RonB

Ron,
Not really. I’ve never felt the need for one but I suppose it would be good to have.  I think it’s an add-on you can buy, as well as a backup camera. I’m not overly impressed with the factory backup camera so that is an option worth considering.

We splurged on one this winter (an RV Christmas gift 😀) after Google sent us down a couple dead end roads in South Dakota last fall.

All GPS systems can inadvertently send you strange ways for unknown reasons.

Would there be need or advantage to this if one were to install a stereo unit with CarPlay?

I personally prefer the greater level of detail regarding road signs, split lanes etc. that the Garmin units provide. The Garmin is also portable and  can  be used in any of my other vehicles.  Easier access to fuel and accommodation information is also a plus for me.
