Back table for mid bath April 10, 2021, 12:46:27 am What do folks get for a table in the back since they are no longer are made with one?
Re: Back table for mid bath Reply #1 – April 10, 2021, 04:40:48 am Hi Ted; The TK is still made with the fold down table. Have Steve put in a piece of wood inside the back wall to strengthen it, and have the TK table put in. I wouldn't have a midbath without that feature. I retrofitted a 2001 MB in 2017 with the narrow table that was stored in the closet. If I had the time to find a 'pull hinge pin' set of hinges I would have been able to store the table in the closet if desired. I could have put re-enforcing inside the back wall, but decided to go without it. (don't sit on that table), but otherwise seemed very sturdy. I haven't heard any mentions of a problem from the owners. In my experience, when visitors arrive, in a MB, they sit in the back with the view windows. The front dinette even when pulled out is just for two people. RonB 2 Likes
Re: Back table for mid bath Reply #2 – April 10, 2021, 04:12:27 pm I had a local cabinet shop make a table for me. I used removable Marine stainless table brackets to mount to the back wall. The table leg was a folding adjustable leg made by JR products. It’s really nice to have a table in the rear, and it fits nicely in the closet when not in use. In other words is your spare mounted on the back wall? The new back wall isn't reinforced although I'll bet a there is a way to mount a table like this with a backing plate.Since it is removed instead of flipped up the full weight of the table won't rest on the wall. Thanks for the links.
Re: Back table for mid bath Reply #4 – April 10, 2021, 07:07:56 pm Hi Ted, your TK back wall table doesn't weigh much, it is mostly hollow. It certainly doesn't stress the wall. Our TK's have a 90 pound wheel and tire hanging from it. The 2001 MB I worked on was a hollow back wall, and about 3/8" thick board with the white vinyl wrinkly wall paper. There were vertical supports inside the wall inboard of the tail lights and at the back of the rear two storage compartments. A small incision in the back wall could provide a glued in support inside the wall. https://www.replacementboatparts.com/stainlesssteelpullpinhinge-2.aspx one of many 'pull pin' hinges RonB
Re: Back table for mid bath Reply #5 – April 10, 2021, 07:09:03 pm My rear wall is not reinforced. I also mounted a folding table leg near the edge attached to the wall to help dissipate the weight. So far, it’s worked well for 4 people dining or playing games. We’re just careful to not put too much pressure along the edges of the table when getting up. I did mount a pin mechanism to lock the hinges, so that the table would not tilt and pop out of the hinges.
